Critics Consensus

This Adam Sandler vehicle borrows shamelessly from It's A Wonderful Life and Back To The Future, and fails to produce the necessary laughs that would forgive such imitation.

Namrata Joshi Outlook The concept never really takes off on screen. Moreover, the only way such presumably uplifting cinema can work is if one feels in some ways for the characters and situations. Jan 17, 2019 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek As a moral fable Click holds no surprises; as a Sandler comedy, it's unusually dark, occasionally touching and pretty funny. Mar 14, 2018 Full Review Anna Smith Film4 As a broad family comedy this is perfectly acceptable, but from a sci-fi point of view it's a very pale imitation of the time travel classics it seeks to ape. Rated: 2.5/5 May 30, 2008 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Despite all its inherent flaws and challenges, what can I say? It clicks. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Sep 5, 2020 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound The film has its moments where it attempts to teach us about priorities and what should be important in our lives. Rated: 3/5 Jul 13, 2020 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times A remote-control gizmo allows Adam Sandler to skip all of life's bad stuff and blows the whistle on current culture's instant-gratification laziness. It'll teach your kids to learn to take the bad with the good. Rated: 3/5 May 17, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Rich S As a longtime Adam Sandler fan, all I can say is that Click is very disappointing on many levels. First of all, it isn't very funny. The slapstick humor that comes about from freezing people and then making a ball hit them in the face went out with Bewitched. Sandler and Christopher Walken-- two of my favorites -- can't make their own take on Marty McFly and Doc Brown work. They fail miserably at it, in fact. Lastly, Click was a Christmas present and it is probably the absolute worst DVD I own. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Nicollas A This movie made me cry for the first time in a movie, the story is so touching and made me realize how I want to live and love every second of my life. I love this movie with my heart and tears Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Luke P A man finds a magic remote sounds like a kids movie… Is what I would have said if there wasn’t 1 billion sex jokes, I feel like I paid for like a $10 sex toy, (which is a big rip off because it doesn’t work.) I left at some of the jokes, but the jokes weren’t stupidly inappropriate, Should’ve gotten an R-rating Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Audience Member Adam Sandler is hilarious in Click. Despite being a very funny movie, Click has some pretty emotional scenes as well. I thought they executed this concept very well Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Mark D I honestly consider myself a bit of a film snob. I was so lucky to have born in the 70s so that I could appreciate 80s family films and 90s comedies. Click is my guilty pleasure. I guess it has a moral tale about growing older and failing to notice the important things changing or disappearing around you. Big has a similar affect on me. Don't let time slip away. Sandler can be crass at times and this film descends from a dog shagging a toy duck to his father's passing and his own health deteriorating in moments. If you walk away from this one wanting to call a loved one or making time to have a catch-up with a friend then the film has achieved something most comedy dramas fail. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Audience Member Interesting movie. Very clever twist and a bit too serious at times. Too hilarious in some parts so it was overall very odd to watch, but credit to acting and truly an original idea that is well executed from beginning to end.
