dustin d Terrible film based on a dated novel by "Michael Douglas" (aka Michael and Douglas Crichton). Thin plot, godawful acting (it sounds like everyone's reading their lines for the first time, but giving it their all, doggonit), lethargic cinematography (static, needlessly long shots), production errors (an actor bumps into a door--it's left in the film, blatant switched in seasons between shots). The little action is ruined by a tone-deaf soundtrack, as if the filmmakers wanted us to know they weren't really trying because the whole thing was so embarrassing. This movie can be seen in its entirety on YouTube. It rightfully has never been released on home video. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Didnt follow the book very well, but what movie really does, I liked the ending in the movie better than the book though, the books ending was very abrupt and didnt wrap things up very well. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member On the surface, this seemed like it would be really interesting: an early script by Michael Crichton, a drug dealing noir theme, and the first film ever featuring a long haired John Lithgow. The film depicts a law student who goes by the street name "Lucifer" [ha ha] who decides to put the bar exam on hold, and sling a few "bricks" of weed, engage in some "balling" and live life to the fullest! Well, it's never that easy, is it? The film is interesting, seeing a sojourn into a recording studio which looks exactly like I'd picture Elektra Records to have looked circa 1970. [I might not be far off, since the film features a cameo by Kama Sutra Record's Buzzy Linhart]. Other film heavyweights make appearances, like Charles Durning [as the fuzz] and a very young Paul Sorvino pops up toward the end. However, the suspense just didn't grab me, it had a glib vibe that was probably due to everyone involved with the project being stoned on grass. The star quotient/rating would undoubtedly go up, with a viewer's THC level. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Harvard grads deal from Boston to Berkeley, CA-isn't it suppossed to be the other way around? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was interesting but stupid at the same time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
