Kelly D Great movie, funny for adults and kids alike Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/21 Full Review Blu B An Animated Classic. The hallmarks of this franhcise is walking the line of outright stupidity but with just the right amount of clever wittiness in a fun manner. This one walks that line pretty much to a tee. The music is fun, catchy, has a great original number, and fun classic pop songs. Everything else is really good. The animation is pretty simliar to the first and has the same color, energy, and direction as the first pound for pound. The new love interest is really likeable and matches great. Gru is really good also and it's great to see him get more development. The minion and humor in general is pretty good but sometimes it can be a bit too much. There's more Minions in this because the focus group analysts I'm sure wanted more and it can get a little annoying at times. But the slapstick is well animated. The villian is fun but nothing deep or anything. The plot is really stupid but also kind of clever with how it weaves a spy/save the world story with a romcom pretty well honestly. It does have trouble in the first half jumping around with setting the spy plot and tying the romance together at first with a really outlandish setup but it works quite well in the end ina way only this franchise could. The "Twist" if you think about it kind of doesn' make any sense (Aren't you gonna harm your family with a serum to infect all the world) and the development it ries to give Agnes and the other girls who were great in the first don't really add up to much. But it's all done in good fun, charm, and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing the whole way with fun. The first one I will say is a bit more grounded in it's storytelling than this is as this gets a little bit closer to the edge than the first in erms of stupidity/over the top vs grounded characters. Butthis overall does what sequel is supposed to do even if it is a bit more stupid/outlandish. If you a fan of any actors in this, animated flicks, family films, or oddly enough offbeat romcoms than check this out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Joey G This movie was an amazing sequel. I loved almost every second of this movie. And the ending was so perfect. I can’t believe than I’m happy for a fake cartoon character. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Audience Member The sequel for Despicable Me was good, but I liked it. But I wasn't that huge of a fan of Despicable Me 2. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review matthias s **Review of *Despicable Me 2* – ★★★½** *Despicable Me 2* takes everything fun about the first movie and cranks it up a notch. The cast delivers top-notch voice work—Steve Carell nails Gru’s gruff charm, and Kristen Wiig is a perfect match as the quirky Lucy. The plot is delightfully original, blending romance and comedy without missing a beat. Sure, it’s a little predictable, but when the jokes are this sharp and constant, who cares? The Minions are at their chaotic best, and the chemistry between Gru and Lucy adds a sweet touch without feeling forced. It’s the kind of movie that keeps you laughing from start to finish—there’s always another gag just around the corner. Honestly, I liked it a bit more than the first one. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it sure makes the ride more fun.
