Audience Member For those in the know, this 1979 tour is perhaps Elton's most legendary. This document of the Leningrad and Moscow shows was always powerful and profound; but with the passage of time has become even more moving, as it depicts Elton John at the breathtaking peak of his performing talents. Accompanied only by the great percussionist Ray Cooper, these performances will stun you, and the depictions of an old school communist Russia pre-Berlin wall will transfix you. Unlike most crap concert videos, showing the same tired camera angles and edits over and over, the camerawork and editing here is terrific, creative and still fresh over 35 years later. More to the point - Elton was never better, and this is perhaps the most precious footage of this artist ever recorded. If you have even a passing interest in Elton, this film is a treasure. Derek Malcolm Guardian Not much analysis, but ten times better than the usual awful short the poor public, if not the critics, are forced to sit through.
