Drew Gregory Autostraddle I can only be frustrated with the movie because the majority of it works so well. The coming-of-age romcom moments had me yearning for a time when trans movies are allowed to exist without the burden of teaching. Aug 18, 2023 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens Unfortunately it suffers from a narrative that really has been played out countless times before. Rated: 3/5 Dec 8, 2023 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine Through a carefully constructed narrative and exceptionally developed characters, the film manages to capture the complexity of the human experience... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 7/10 May 30, 2023 Full Review John Sooja Common Sense Media While the acting is strong, from both the leads and the supporting cast, the film struggles to find a real foundation, if not also a heart, amidst main character Tosiek's figuring out why he's so "angry at the world." May 23, 2023 Full Review Jason Flatt But Why Tho? A Geek Community Fanfic is a great queer movie, it’s just not a great movie, movie. But even still, this one is well worth the watch for its matter-of-fact approach to coming out, a great parent-child relationship, and a huge screw you to a terrible teacher. Rated: 7.5/10 May 20, 2023 Full Review John Serba Decider It’s more welterweight than heavyweight ; it’s also a hopeful story instead of a traumatic one, and all the more endearing for it. Grayson When i finished watching this film, I was sobbing, the amount of times i cried during this film was one too many, it was a very relatable and open eyed movie. This movie makes me feel seen, as a trans male i feel like I have just seen one of the best LGBTQ+ films to ever come across my viewing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review No. I I really liked this movie. It's a fantastic movie and I love it. (To the person that said the main character disregarded others' feelings, I understand, but they're also a teenager, and I found this incredibly comforting. A lot of movies display children as troublemakers without good parts or just little angels without fault, and this film showed problems/faults while still maintaining the character as a whole, who is a relatively good person :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review Devora B Confusing, no plot points, no sense of timeline, inconsistent, genuinely terrible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Vitoria F The way of telling the story of the character's self-understanding as transgender is interesting. But aside from the LGBT+ aspect, it's just a story of a boy finding himself while ignoring the feelings and problems of everyone around him. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/23/23 Full Review Toko J film yang cukup berat, kekinian. bagus. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
