What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though Justin Lin's premise is precocious enough, the sight gags and comic timing are tired in this mockumentary about Asian typecasting in the 1970s.

Mark Rahner Seattle Times This tedious mockumentary isn't even as entertaining as one of Ed Wood's actual films, and once-promising director Justin Lin has some karma to square for fumbling such a sure thing. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 16, 2007 Full Review Los Angeles Times Intermittently funny at best, but mostly full of dead air. Rated: 1/5 Oct 26, 2007 Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle A very funny, equal-opportunity broadside that targets Asian stereotyping, and not just by non-Asians. Rated: 3/4 Oct 19, 2007 Full Review David Lamble Bay Area Reporter Finishing the Game is an uneven effort... May 26, 2020 Full Review Don Willmott Filmcritic.com You can easily tell how great a time everyone is having, and it's infectious. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 28, 2008 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seattle Post-Intelligencer What exactly he's trying to say about Bruce Lee's fame and impact or the banal reality of genre moviemaking is unclear at best. Great idea, but the execution was awful. Just too many stories going around, alot of them were just not interesting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Not great, but I was amused throughout. More for fans of Bruce Lee or fans of movies about Filmaking... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A wacky, young and ambitious director wants to finish Bruce Lee's End Game while casting some interesting actors to play the lead. A funny indie flick. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member had thought it was more of a comedy then it turned out to be. well done mockumentary, but was not what I was expecting to watch, and felt too slow many times.
