Critics Consensus

Subtle to a fault, this perfectly cast ensemble drama is lifted by typically sharp performances from Robert Duvall and Bill Murray.

Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald Get Low is a handmade kind of film. Its ambitions are modest, but fully attained. I rarely use the words ''go see it'', but I hope a lot of people do. Rated: 4/5 May 24, 2011 Full Review Adam Smith Empire Magazine Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray lend their mega-watt talents to a undemanding movie. Beautifully shot but let down by an underwhelming final act. Rated: 3/5 Feb 4, 2011 Full Review Robbie Collin News of the World 1930s-set, treacle-pulsed snooze-'em-up. Rated: 2/5 Jan 24, 2011 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times It’s moving and heartbreaking, but doesn’t deliver the smacked-upside-the-head-whammy the build-up suggests. After the final bit of information, we realize this movie is more of a “journey” and less than a “destination” type of story. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 10, 2024 Full Review Michael Leader Den of Geek A sad, minor mystery lies at the heart of this whimsical, sometimes beautiful, yet underwhelming tale of folksy Americana. Rated: 3/5 May 7, 2024 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Sincerity overcomes melodrama, and the movie is worthwhile. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 19, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Rita E Excellent movie. Based on a true story. Excellent acting. Had me laughing and crying. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review The E Great movie and actors! Story is intriguing and cinematography nice too. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review isla s This is a quirky film, with an intriguing story and interesting characters. Its based on a real life legend, apparently, so there may be some truth to it. I thought it was interesting how different people, locals in the nearby community, reacted to the hermit, Felix Bush and what we learn about him. This film has a great cast, including Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray. I'd say its a somewhat thought provoking film and one I'd happily recommend, yes. There are some amusing moments in it as well as serious aspects to it as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review nuveau s An engaging tale made more compelling by great performances. Mr. Duvall is as marvelous as ever and as ever makes the role his own. Ms. Spacek reminds us what a marvelous actor she is as well. And throughout, Mr. Murray provides a deft touch of humor. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Might be a bit to subtle but a perfect cast that is lifted by Duvall and Murray. Love the idea of throwing your own funeral while still alive. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Daniel N Beautiful story elevated by the sweet and terrific performance by Robert Duvall.
