Justin Lowe Hollywood Reporter A discordantly derivative attempt at amalgamating divergent horror cliches and unrelated cultural traditions. Aug 25, 2017 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times Director Rich Ragsdale doesn't innovate within the genre but does provide enough visual surprises to please fans of supernatural scares. Aug 24, 2017 Full Review Brian Marks Village Voice Ghost House belongs to the long tradition of movies about white people carelessly blundering into other cultures and wreaking havoc. Aug 23, 2017 Full Review William Venegas La Nación (Costa Rica) The film fills with simple solutions for difficult situations. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2/5 May 6, 2019 Full Review Andrew Pollard Starburst Given that this is one of director Rich Ragsdale's first full feature films, he's definitely shown enough promise here to suggest he could do great things if afforded a better screenplay. Rated: 5/10 May 18, 2018 Full Review Dylan Walker Film Inquiry Predictable, overbearing, and generic, Ghost House is a film that is lacking in all the essential ingredients that make up a great horror. Aaron N Don't trust the negative reviews. My wife is full Thai and Thailand is our second home. This movie is great if you know what's going on and have a connection with Thailand and it's people and customs. The haters are obviously pure narrow minded Americans Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/22 Full Review jon h Yeah I've let to see a decent movie with Scout Taylor Compton. But I thought her acting in that atrocious Halloween film was fine, here she shows all the acting ability you'd expect from a plank of wood. This is a pretty awful film that's predictable and devoid of any scares, unless you're easily frightened by jump scares. It manages to create absolutely no tension or atmosphere. The story is awful and I have to say the acting throughout is some of the worst I've ever seen from what I'm assuming is a reasonably budgeted studio film. I'd be shocked if anyone associated with the film looks back at this and doesn't cringe with embarrassment. I will give a star for not being a remake or sequel but other than that it has absolutely nothing going for it. It's abysmal and it even fails to be one of those films that are so bad they are good. This is just bad…. Real bad Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The scary scenes are old school, but I like old school, because that works better than CG. the ending is kinda short and no climax. But in overall, it's a low budget movie that is surprisingly entertaining. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A cool concept with a very uncool execution. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/20 Full Review Audience Member Definitely has some scary parts Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is surprisingly good. This is a typical asian ghost story. The horror is all in the ambiance and story telling, not so much in the jump scares(I hate jump scares). We get some lore on how the spirits work in this region, but what makes this movie beter than average are the characters. The driver, Gogo is just sooo likeable. Just because of him, I give the movie one additional star, putting it just above average rating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
