The OVA/movie finale to the series, the Earth and Space have been at peace for a year and thrown down their weapons when a new faction rises up to assert violent control. The Gundam pilots have to recover their suits from hurtling into the sun in order to save the day. Just like the show, there's good kernels of ideas we could wrestle with: is it possible to have peace and completely get rid of weapons, what is the purpose of a solider during peacetime, is all the sacrifice of battle worth it? But just like the show it's ham fisted, stumbles all over itself, and is generally ridiculous. At least with this it's not too front and center most of the time and the fact that they had to write a tight 90 minute story probably helped. But why would anyone follow a 9 year old in a coup d'état? The animation is absolutely beautiful, full of fluid awesome fight scenes with only the occasional blemish. And the updated Gundam designs are super slick. I enjoyed it not for its story but for its visuals, and just like the show I'll always have a fondness for it. Watched the sub since that's all Crunchy had.

This movie is amazing. The visuals, mobile suits, and music were improved and just as good as the show. Overall, I enjoyed every single bit of this movie. 12/10

If you liked the Gundam Wing series then you will love EW. It picks up about a year after the end of the series and answers all the questions you had, and some you didn't! All the heroes from the series make appearances and the mechs are all redesigned for the better. The story ties in well with parts of it drawn from the existing story line. The overall feel of this OVA is a bit grittier than the series but comes off very well.

Endless Waltz is a solid end to the series and excels in presenting the character's interpersonal aspects. The only downside is that there is not enough time to fully explore the massive plot in the hour and a half timeframe.

A remarkable end to a fantastically crafted series. The music alone sets a tone for the film that echoes throughout the entirety of Mobile Suit battles to commence as war never seems too far away. The remodeling of the Gundams from series to film is spot on with their new looks and diversity they become even better than our childhoods could have imagined. Endless Waltz is a anime adaptation from TV to movie that gets the job done right the first time that leaves no need for an alternative. 5/5
