Joey Keogh Wicked Horror An impressively original idea, loaded with the kind of historical accuracy that makes it a frightening prospect regardless of supernatural leanings, [Heretiks is] enlivened by a strong central performance and plenty of frights. Rated: 8/10 Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Chris Ward Flickering Myth Average on an entertainment level and another title to tick off the list for nunsploitation obsessives. Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Identity-obscuring costumes and poor lighting conditions leave the viewer at a disconnect with characters in what is otherwise a compelling piece of period genre film. Rated: 3/5 Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Anton Bitel SciFiNow The results, though atmospheric, are nunsense. Sep 5, 2018 Full Review Katie Driscoll Starburst The film's setting fails to evoke the same type of English rural folk horror that it promises, instead wanting the audience to take it seriously when it can't even take itself seriously. Liam D A decent enough script with some fantastic practical gore effects Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/22 Full Review Audience Member This film is beautiful, from its set design to its costume design, the soundtrack, the performances by the cast (its great that Rosie Day makes an appearance in the film too, i love that Rosie appears in most of Pauls films, I hope that continues) and whilst I will admit that films about witchcraft arent normally my thing and rarely freak me out, there is so much in this film that not only helped me feel immersed in this world for the duration of the film, but also made me jump a few times that I actually was totally fine with watching a film that featured witchcraft as for me i preferred to think of this film as a damn creepy drama that just happened to have horrific events happen in it. I was sucked in by the atmospheric feel to the film and the locations, and of course the performances by everyone involved, not just those in front of the camera but also the crew behind the camera too. Great mentions have to go to Hanna for her role as Persephone, who straight away, we are on her ‘side; and genuinely care and worry about her and hope that she will be okay in this scary creepy world, Also Rosie Day adds yet another great role to her resume, as Sister Emeline another inhabitant of this less than 5 star convent. Rosie is such a talent and has proven in her role in the The Seasoning House that dialogue isnt always needed to create a great performance, Rosie again handles silent scenes in Heretiks with brilliance once again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Really bad , not great acting and not scary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Luke S Nothing to see here. Move along! Difficult to say why this just didn't work. But it didn't. Fails to keep attention. Poorly executed story? Dunno. But dull. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/20 Full Review Audience Member It was filmed nicely BUT the special effects were diabolical and ruined the movie. Michael Ironside only appears for 5 minutes at the beginning. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
