Drew Hunt Chicago Reader There are some beautiful shots of the city, but this is little more than an expertly produced home movie. Apr 16, 2015 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times A provocative, if lopsided snapshot of the ancient walled city of Acre (or Akka), located on the northwest coast of Israel. Jan 2, 2014 Full Review Farran Smith Nehme New York Post The directors have chosen eloquent interviewees, and the passionate attachment they feel for their city gives the film heart. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 22, 2013 Full Review Louis Proyect rec.arts.movies.reviews Ignore the one obviously Zionist "rotten" below. This is a terrific documentary about the resistance to a vulgar and soulless gentrification of a beautiful and historic old city. The story of Zionist brutality in a microcosm. Feb 8, 2014 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International The subject is the cultural cannibalization of one of the world's most ancient and beautiful cities, and however one-sided the argument is here, the problem is undeniably moving and true. Nov 21, 2013 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice A startling documentary about life in Acre, an Israeli city on the sea filled with unhappy Palestinians who have lived there for generations. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 15, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This movie is an eye opening struggle of a people who are forgotten by many. Like the native Americans who struggled to keep their land, this movie shows the human side of the Palestinians that we often don't see. It is very well directed and extremely beautiful to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought this a very thoughtful, beautifully filmed documentary concerning the plight of the Palestinians in Acca, the ancient city formerly in Palestine, now Israel. with the onset of modernism and political agenda, the Palistinians, and the makers of this film, portray very human individuals from children on up struggling to stay in Acca. They cannot remodel their houses. They do not receive equal education, and yet the message or theme of this film as not vituperative. Stating the facts. It caused me to wonder about the global backlash of Imperialism. Most people believe that humankind is one. I know the Palestinian, Jewish Man and myself were vocal about this subject with the director. She gave me her card, and I think it fell out of my pocket, but kudos to all connected to this film. The photography was incredible and the film definitely was enhanced by shots of youth jumping/plunging into the deep waters. The film was tight, human, luminous and insightful. I recommend it highly.
