Critics Consensus

Like Me stylishly explores some interesting ideas, even if they're too often consigned to the background in favor of more ordinary violence and gore.

Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic For a movie featuring so much vomiting, "Like Me" is a visual feast. Rated: 3/5 Feb 1, 2018 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Rises above the pack in a few ways - ranging from its ambitious style to the out-of-whack humanity of its two lead performances. Jan 26, 2018 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Both impish and melancholy, with Timlin and Fessenden handily shifting the molecules in the air each time they share a scene, "Like Me" has an eccentric bravura to it. Jan 25, 2018 Full Review Dustin Chang Floating World A movie made for the ADHD generation? With all the excess style, I liked Like Me much more than I thought I would. Its textural, rough around the edges aesthetics really works for its there/not there theme. One of the year's best. Feb 13, 2021 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Offers a handful of visually interesting sequences but scrolling through Tumblr might be a more effective use of your time. Rated: 2/5 Feb 6, 2021 Full Review Tom Kiesecoms ScreenAnarchy The unrelentingly serious tone fails to help proceedings, even though the film's go-for-broke style remains strangely alluring. Diana S Visually inventive. Reflective of the kind of bizarre GenZ montages you might see on YouTube but not without depth. An interesting critique of the influencer and YouTube Star era. Also, I think bulimia is an apt metaphor for social media users as a group. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Audience Member Cannot recall a worse movie. Some as bad, but none worse. Absolute garbage. ZERO very emphatic stars. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Going into this I think I am either going to think it's great or hate it, I do not expect there to be any middle ground for this for me. I think it's a great commentary on the current state of the youth in America and their relationship with the internet and the precedent they are creating with it. People who rated this low don't know what they are talking about or doing. This is a good MOVIE. 4 of 5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Superb editing and visually stimulating, but is it enough to save this movie from its terrible script full of cringe inducing dialogue and it's mindless plot? This movie is frustrating. I want to like it so bad, hell, I want to love it. Visually it is incredible; something in between Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers and Mandy. But, beyond it's visual appeal lies a landscape bland and baron. We don't come to know anything about these characters, and therefore their motives are elusive at best. The dialogue is nonsensical as is the plot. The music and sound design doesn't match up with its incredible visuals. And, because of all this the movie ultimately falls short of how great it COULD be. Like Me is worth a watch, especially for fans of the cerebral. But, it will leave you wanting. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member LIKE ME is one of the weirdest and coolest movies I've seen lately. The performance of Addison Timlin. The cult catalog. I recommend it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was amazing, the visual effects and the analogy. It reflects the youth of this era Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
