Peter (Jim Caviezel) and Carla (Claudia Karvan), a couple whose marriage is faltering, decide to go on a camping weekend. When they become lost, the pair sets up camp on a remote beach that doesn't seem to be on any map. At first the trip is the romantic getaway they imagined -- then slowly things begin to go wrong. After Peter disrespects the unspoiled habitat, it seems as if the surroundings are wreaking revenge on the couple, as insects, animals, and then nature itself become the enemy.

Nikki Baughan Roll Credits Not only is it badly made, Long Weekend is utterly pointless. Rated: 1/5 Oct 25, 2019 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures I had no sympathy for the charcters. They are, at their core, wretched people who deserve to have their relationship fall apart. Rated: 2/5 Mar 2, 2011 Full Review Steve Dread Central Nature's Grave isn't worth wasting words on. Rated: 3/10 Aug 2, 2009 Full Review Bill Gibron PopMatters Nature's Grave violates one of the first rules of remakes - if you're not going to be as good, or try to improve on, what came before, you really shouldn't bother. Billie B I do not understand why folks so disliked this film. I believe it's due to so much over-dramatization in our society, too many special effects and buckets of blood which is evident in both films and video games that we, as a people, have become desensitized to a film that has some interesting twists and turns. I saw comments like "Boring!", "Waste of time!", "The dog was the best part!" Seriously, folks, try looking at it from a different perspective. I'm a huge movie nut, and at 69 that covers a lot of ground! Horror is my favorite genre! How often do you see a Dugong on a beach, supposedly dead yet creeping closer to your campground? I haven't seen that one done before in horror. Or the wonderful eagle attack, reminiscent of Hitchcock's "The Birds". I loved the VW bus being passed on the road by the couple then later discovered underwater, aged by growth and putrefaction indicating it didn't just happen despite seeing the vehicle on the road earlier. Or the endless dirt road that continually drags on, never ends and takes the characters back to square 1 as they madly try to escape. Their personalities as a couple on the verge of divorce were spot on. Very realistic! It was clear that opposites attract when it came to these two on the screen. Boring? What is boring about weird creepy baby cries and screams throughout the night? Not every movie has to be a slasher to be entertaining. Sometimes a little thought provoking intrigue can be very engaging, but I gather that the audience for this film was very young, very much into lots of action, blood and guts, and tons of special effects. I came into films long before all that unrealistic 'junk' you might say, and being able to logically watch a film that makes sense and adds lots of unseen fear, yet it doesn't involve sex to keep your attention is really quite nice. We need to dial back all the sci-fi, technology-oriented, special effects a little and get back to earth, where a good film sticks to the basic needs for developing intrigue and is also coherent without a thousand questions tumbling in your head once finished. My only question was also, what happened to the dog? But beyond that, I would watch this film again. The acting was very good! I was quite surprised at the 3 star rating overall. Seriously, this is a 4 star...a solid 4 star. Definitely not a 5, but darn entertaining just the same! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Ronald H Possibly the most pointless film I've ever seen. The bickering husband and wife are unbearable from the very start, but we at least hope for some kind of reconciliation after all the horror they go through. It doesn't happen. The only comfort for me was the assurance that America can't take all of the blame for making inept, grade F movies. The Aussies make rotten ones, too. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/23 Full Review VICTORIA B What a waste of time. I waited for it to get off the ground but not. One of the worst ever and just gross. A real downer. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/23 Full Review Tiago S Ideia que poderia dar certo, mas no final virou um terror fraco e sem substância. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/22 Full Review Audience Member The one star is for the beautiful cinematography of Wilson's promontory. The film itself is the worst I've ever seen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Semplicemente terribile in ogni suo aspetto.
