Peter (Jim Caviezel) and Carla (Claudia Karvan), a couple whose marriage is faltering, decide to go on a camping weekend. When they become lost, the pair sets up camp on a remote beach that doesn't seem to be on any map. At first the trip is the romantic getaway they imagined -- then slowly things begin to go wrong. After Peter disrespects the unspoiled habitat, it seems as if the surroundings are wreaking revenge on the couple, as insects, animals, and then nature itself become the enemy.

There should be a law that forces potential renters of Grave to be sent Long Weekend instead...once you've watched the original slow-burn its way into a frenzy, the misguided remake from Blanks just looks all the more insipid.

Possibly the most pointless film I've ever seen. The bickering husband and wife are unbearable from the very start, but we at least hope for some kind of reconciliation after all the horror they go through. It doesn't happen. The only comfort for me was the assurance that America can't take all of the blame for making inept, grade F movies. The Aussies make rotten ones, too.

Semplicemente terribile in ogni suo aspetto. Una coppia di personaggi che si impara ad odiare fin da subito e con cui si deve convivere per tutto il film. Un habitat totalmente senza senso, con animali che vanno dai serpenti, alle aquile ai dugonghi (follia). Scene ancora più senza senso; basti pensare alla tappa al bar, o al dugongo morto che si muove. Ci si deve impegnare per fare una sceneggiatura così no sense.

I'm a pretty big fan of director Jamie Blanks, but Long Weekend didn't really do it for me. Neither lead is redeemable, which, to be fair, is sort of the impetus for the horror in this horror movie, but still, it makes it hard to attach yourself when said leads are the only characters on screen for 99% of the movie. One star for Long Weekend itself, and then a whole extra star just for the sea-life.
