Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This Greek film is directed by Spiros Stathoulopoulos and competed at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2012. Starring charming Theo Alexander and Tamila Koulieva, it takes us to the Byzantine monastery complex Metéora, in Thessaly, a series of structures built on natural sandstone pillars whose tops often disappear into the clouds. Of course, in setting like that cinematography has to be outstanding. That could be the reason, as well as the introduction of animation with "Byzantine" style within the film narrating us the story, for its nomination for a Golden Berlin Bear at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival. An unholy union takes place in the plains where their monasteries are suspended between heaven and earth. The plot was simple, the emotions were visible, the chemistry between the actors perfect, the only problem was that the enjoyment was short lived. A movie lasting 78 minutes where at least one third looks like a tourist postcard does not offer too much of development of characters, or analysing the relationships deeper. I still enjoyed it, because the good (work) is prevailing over the bad (work)... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
