Pieter-Jan Van Haecke Psychocinematography The use of painted backgrounds to fleetingly introduce different locations like Peking, the Philippines and Okinawa might feel cheap, but it does not detract or disturb the investment of the spectator in the narrative. Stephen C Success in 1.2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All ages admitted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dubbed and subtitled in worldwide studios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Filmed in color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Brayden J Oh... Rodan. After watching mothra I decided to watch this and it wasnt all bad, but Rodan doesn't really do much. Don't give me wrong, its pretty suspensful but it has flawed characters and an uninteresting plot. Worth a watch for a Kaiju lover but for an average movie goer, I don't recommend it Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/21/25 Full Review Collin M What a suprise! Ishirō has done such a great job with these monster films! Really enjoyed this! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Justin T This starts with quite good suspense and a surprising amount of gore for a kaiju movie. The first act very much reminded me of The Thing from Another World (1951). The middle section of the film is really dull and boring though. Even with the suspenseful opening it is still an incredibly slow first hour. When Rodan emerges around the hour marker it gets slightly more interesting but then quickly becomes boring again. So little actually happens in this film. What city smashing and kaiju action we have is a welcome break from the monotony but it’s really not enough and all the tanks firing gets repetitive quickly. If this had been 20 minutes I think it would have been quite good but at 1 hour and 22 minutes it feels very long and doesn’t hold your attention. The human story is boring and forgettable, the kaiju story is copied from Godzilla (1954), the ending is very disappointing and offers very little explanation. Some of the effects are laughable with the scale of the monsters changes between scenes. The day for night looks bad. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Tim S Overwhelming too short, I think it’s a fine film because being my favorite kaiju Rodan the fire demon of course. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review josh d Very solid non-Godzilla Kaiju film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
