Led by a potentially starmaking turn from Sophia Mitri Schloss, Sadie's family ties bind viewers into a uniquely disquieting drama.

Audience Member Not nearly worth the aggregate audience score of 81% in Oct 2020. MAJOR plot hole - if you do what she did you're 90% certain to be a severe psychopath or affected by American violence, and on the off chance that you're not, your life is 100% destroyed. "It's gonna be OK" is not summary dialogue for the can of worms this opens but fails to leave out for all to see. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the most exciting movie to watch but definitely some take aways . The two teen actors in this movie just have it you can tell and they will get many many roles in the future. More of a drama than comedy as well if you were wondering . There definitely is a story to be told in this movie and I am sure it resonates much more with other people . 2.5. Nice people don’t break up families ! It was interesting to see the difference in perspectives of the same situation between the mother and daughter . Poor girl went thru some stuff . One thing this movie did do a poor job on is how a person handles a pill addiction ..... definitely not how it is Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/20 Full Review Audience Member Intricate, dramatic story, believable and almost inevitable given that all the pieces are there in real life ready to combine and happen. Odd that with all the bigger things going on it was one small moment of one character's behavior that made me think "Oh come ON! That's all you've got?" I was expecting more of that character, but then people are often incomprehensibly weak. There's heartbreak and tragedy in this but you're not being dragged through a slough of despair. These are likable interesting people. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie has one thing going for it, unpredictability. Much of the rest of it makes me want to scream WHY?!? Why does that school counselor keep coming around? Even after he sees the mom with a guy way better looking then he is? Why is Sadie's best friend the most unintelligent, boring and dull human being on the planet? Why does Sadie only utilize her attractiveness twice in the movie and for the dumbest of reasons? Does this movie want me to pull my hair out? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is fantastic! A deep, important story told through the eyes of a girl who's seen true hurt. I was immediately wrapped up in these characters collective world. I cared about each one of them and hoped for spinoff movies. I know the days of streaming are upon us, but this might be one I want on the 'ol blue ray shelf. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Very enjoyable, slightly disturbing :) Highly recommended!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Nell Minow AWFJ.org Melanie Lynskey and John Gallagher Jr. are two of the most gifted actors in film, and the roles they have in Sadie allow them to fully inhabit characters who are imperfect but good-hearted and very real. Oct 11, 2021 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The movie doesn't hit as hard as it should since Griffiths strikes such a monotonously grim tone and the performances aren't very convincing. Mar 3, 2020 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times Its honesty and power makes it feel large; you live among these characters in their weary trailer park, aching for them. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 17, 2018 Full Review Jennifer Merin AWFJ.org Schloss and Lynskey deliver heart wrenching performances in this strikingly femme-centric film which shoots an arrow right into the heart of domestic disruption that results from faraway wars. Oct 11, 2021 Full Review Sandie Angulo Chen AWFJ.org Griffiths, like Summers, has a gift for portraying the working poor without judgment or condescension. Add Sadie the movie and the book to your to-see/to-read lists this autumn. Oct 11, 2021 Full Review Betsy Bozdech AWFJ.org The character is often difficult to like, but Schloss' focus and follow through are undeniable. Oct 11, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
