Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine The politics of the boat as it reaches calamity are mostly reduced to a singular urge to kill one character. Rated: 2/4 Mar 20, 2015 Full Review A.A. Dowd AV Club What Shim needed was a steady escalation of tension, as well as characters a little easier to connect to. Rated: C+ Sep 11, 2014 Full Review Maggie Lee Variety Adeptly transferring a stage play to th escreen, Shim achieves a highly cinematic effect despite the confined mise-en-scene ... Sep 10, 2014 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof The film feels interesting and new, with some odd comic notes, about fisherman's life in difficult times. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 31, 2019 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie Shim Sung-Bo handles the film's sharp tonal shifts with ease, and with the help of cinematographer Hong Kyeong-pyo sustains an eerie mood once the thick sea fog envelops the boat and its surroundings. Rated: 7/10 Jun 6, 2019 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse The film initiates as a social drama, but, from a point on, it transforms into claustrophobic, violent thriller, with the fog surrounding the boat being one of the most important factors in the shaping of this atmosphere Apr 6, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

jjjjjj j This film went to far for too little. It has some interesting themes and ideas but says little about them in favor of shock. Relying on the inhumanity of actions to drive the emotion of this film instead of quality plot and development. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Great thrill of a ride. It's worth the watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member You may understand what is going on with refugees on the sea. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie did reel me in by the plot, but it got boring quickly. The ending disappointed me. I wouldn't watch it again, simply put. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member The captain of a South Korean fishing trawler is offered his biggest payday yet. All he has to do is pick up a bunch of Chinese refugees off the mainland of China and bring them to South Korea. He takes the job and initially everything goes well. However, the plans are thrown into disarray when tragedy strikes... Interesting drama. Plot starts and develops well. The event that changes the course of the plot is shown in a semi-sympathetic light towards the crew and captain and you get the feeling it is going to be story about how the crew manage to evade the authorities, and smooth things over with their paymasters. However, from a point the movie takes a romantic turn, and an idealistic turn, and this reduces it from a crew vs the authorities movies to a much more conventional good guys vs bad guys film. The multi-layered shades of gray is replaced a one-dimensional black-and-white. This takes the lustre off the movie to an extent. Is still reasonably entertaining in the end, but had the potential to be something great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It was just suspense after suspense and just when I thought it will finally end with a happy ending, then came the huge twist! At first I couldn't fully unrated what's happening but after reading reviews, I was blown away by the ending. It's genius!! Wow this is just such an amazing movie.
