John J. Puccio Movie Metropolis ...a ton of atmospherics go a long way toward making what could have been a major disaster into simply a minor calamity. Rated: 3/10 Jan 7, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Absolute train wreck. Not that you could have guessed by just looking at the cover of the video... Tries SO hard to be 'Halloween', and ends up one of the most mind-numbing clusterf**ks of all time. Not only is it shot for cents on the dollar, uncreative, horribly scripted and acted, and ludicrously stupid, but its flat out boring. I bought this for 50 cents at a garage sale, and the cover of the DVD has a picture with a guy in a suit, hunched towards the viewer, hands raised with blood dripping from his finger tips. In the background, there is another guy in a flannel lumberjack shirt with a beard, holding a bloody ax. At NO POINT in the film do either one of these characters appear. I'm really at a loss for words to describe this movie. I guess the best one I can think of is 'flabbergasting'. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolute train wreck. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Cheap, hard to follow, unsatisfying, and rather dumb. It has a classy feel that adds nothing to the overall picture. The pacing remains at a steady pace while nothing seems to add together, and ultimately ends without question. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is as obscure as they come and is almost always omitted in reference books and it's no wonder why. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Mill Creek's 50 Movie Pack: Chilling Classics Reviews THE DEMON/ MIDNIGHT CALLER [1981]: coming in the wake of films like John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN [1978]; this low budget stalker killer film try to be a slasher film. Shot in South Africa and headlined by the always likable Cameron Mitchell in the role of ESP gifted Private Investigator called Bill Carson (inset THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY reference here). The plot sees Carson trying to solve the mystery of the kidnapping of a young woman from her family. Meanwhile in the city the killer stalks two young women. THOUGHTS: with a poster for THE AMITYVILLE HORROR [1979] appearing in one scene & post- HALLOWEEN inspired scenes; this film hardly bathes in the long shadows of those two better films. With scenes ranging from decent (elevated by Mitchell's presence), to the dull and having an odd scene where someone goes to a place called "Boobs Disco" , this film is only good for a 40% rating from me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A horrible attempt at something close to a Haloween rip off. This moving has no feeling whatsoever and jumps all over the place. The only thing you know about the characters are their names and the "demon" goes on killing for no apparent reason, leaving all quesrions and zero answers. Filled with high pitched screams and pointless murders all leading up to a seriously most boring ending. Watch it for the sake of saying that you saw it. The worst that can happen is you'll like it, but i doubt it! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
