Matthew Lickona San Diego Reader What surprises there are are mostly of the pleasant variety, starting with the tone of intelligent sincerity alongside the glowing red pupils and projectile vomiting. Rated: 2/5 Aug 16, 2019 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com More care was seemingly put into the lighting than the scripting of scenes. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 16, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety At over two hours, all this takes far too long, frittering away the frights and fun in too much somberly nonsensical dialogue and incongruous maudlin moments. Aug 16, 2019 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis HanCinema "The Divine Fury" is more impressive than substantial, but Kim Joo-hwan has managed to combine all those elements in a package that somewhat works, at least in terms of entertainment. Jul 26, 2020 Full Review Scott Phillips The Movie Isle The Divine Fury manages to take cliches and spin genre gold out of them. Jul 23, 2020 Full Review CJ Sheu Critics at Large What makes the film stand out is that it works on both a theological level and a secular, psychological one, with each bolstering the other in a way few films attempt. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Courtney K this was great; i'm not sure why critics hated on it so much. it's maybe a little long & kind of drags in a few places, but there's plenty of action & the action is great. more exorcism movies should involve martial arts, haha. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/11/23 Full Review Shalani P To me the movie is top notch and fantastic. First of all I should mention that this is more of a realistic horror representation based on faith and the real life exorcism incidents which is not like the exaggerated blood filled creepy horror thrillers. The actors portrayed the real human emotions really well like fear, love, and human logical thinking which often doubts the faith. It made me feel sensitive and cry in several scenes. The movies feels like a modern adaptation of the film " the rite" which is based on a true story. The director and the script writer has done their reaserch well on christian theology and also about the anti christ illuminate church and I was shocked to see how accurate they have shown all those details well in the movie.. the details shown in the movie exists in real life and but some of the representations like the burning hand made it feel a bit like a super hero movie. But that was clearly a representation of the of him fighting the evil with the help of his faith and all the good in the world which has really hard to portrayed in a fight scene. But those special effects was great tbh. Though it runs for 2 hrs I was curious what happens next. I should say that Father ahn' s character was portrayed really well with beautiful dialogues and they have deep meaning about faith and they makes more much sense to the Christian believers. I think the reason for not getting much rates for the film is because it resonates more only with only a specific category of people who are Christians and also specially people who knows and fascinated to research about anti christ and illuminate. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/22 Full Review ashley s Talk about creepy exorcism without explaining the rationale behind it. All you need to know is that there's a clan of demons and there are exorcists who cleanse them. That's it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
