Audience Member I think this film could've been good. With an entirely different cast, and better effects. A promising concept, that was just executed poorly. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a really strange film that doesn't quite seem to know which niche of horror cinema it wants to occupy. Essentially a haunted house film in terms of plot, it quickly becomes a gore/splatter film in which people are brutally dismembered on a constant basis. If you like gore,. then you might dig Garden of Love (aka The Haunting of Rebecca Verlaine as it was released in the U.S.), but I think you will be disappointed if you are expected a supernatural horror film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Good low-budget German splatter flick from Mr. Ittenbach. Of course it delivers plenty OTT gore by the bucket load ranging from brutal stabbings, head smashings and dismemberings. But a semi decent story is also concocted and some good creative moments. The low budget always shows though and the acting sub-par by most, but the lead female does okay. Overall it's been aimed at the splatter fans out there and it shouldn't disappoint the undemanding. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Within the first five minutes, eleven people are killed- their blood liberally splashed on the walls. It's a good start for a movie like this. The only weak part in this film is the acting, as it feels a little stiff and wooden. Other than that, I would have to say that this movie has enough to offer the viewer in order to entertain you for an hour and a half. The camera work at the beginning is worthy of standing beside the beginning of John Carpenter's "Halloween". There are also some other great angles and shots that pepper this movie. Most ghost stories go at a slower pace than most, relying on the building of tension and then the final release. This movie throws in some decent (if badly acted) action scenese. The acting in this scene is compensated by the gore and the visual effects. "The Haunting of Rebecca Verlaine" may not make it off the B-movie list, but it has a place near the top of it at least. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is Brill. If you hate blood ad gore def stay away as its loaded with it starting with a very distubing massarce that the children are not even spared. A community is buthered and the lone survior is haunted by her father who wants revenge on the killers. The accents are horrible but the acting is well done and the direction really sets the mood nicely. Awesome and quite realistic effects and some a LOT of blood and gore will make gore fans like myself pleased while it sickens others. Awesome film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Damn you got some of the most creative gore scenes here. On par with Nikos there's a lot of facial mutilation, bisections, flesh ripping almost like a Misfits song in the form of a sweet, kinda slow effort of a movie.
