William D One of the worst movies I have ever seen and has ever been made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Noffa, isso foi Podre. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Weak Dolph Lundgren semi-post-apocalyptic vehicle. I had hopes initially with the set-up that a massive earthquake had destroyed the western part of the United States and Dolph is leading the remnants of a military outfit, protecting a group of survivors. Like most post apocalyptic films, the story boils down to feuding clans. There is some okay character development, but the story was pretty uninvolving and the supporting characters were caricatures. I think I was mostly disappointed because the film did not feel like a post apocalyptic film and was more just a bunch of people fighting each other in the desert, though the film really didn't have all that much action. Now I don't necessarily need mohawks, leather chaps, and tricked out cars to know it's a post apocalyptic film, but I did at least want a little sense that civilization has collapsed; more mention of dwindling resources, more frayed of clothes, maybe a few scenes of abandoned pre-quake structure, etc. I suppose there is a bit of this, but not enough. Frequent JCVD collaborator Sheldon Lettich directed the film, so it's competently made from a technical standpoint. I think the high point for me was that the music for the film was by David Michael Frank, who scored all of Steven Seagal's early films. This score doesn't have as much of an 80s synth going on but there are hints of it here and there. Overall, this film is probably only for die hard Dolph fans. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing happens in this movie. The first hour or so is build up of villains, heroes, back story, and character development. Then the badguys show up, there's a bit of action but they don't show anyone escaping or surviving from the plot line they've been setting up. It feels like a poor man's Mad Max, wait no make that a homeless man's Mad Max, without any vehicular action, kills, or fight scenes. A total waste of time, makes Cyborg look like The Road Warrior. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Frances H Not as bad as some reviewers said, although it had plenty of flaws and some pretty hokey acting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/09/12 Full Review Audience Member It's hard to imagine a movie with Dolph Lundgren that was more atrocious than this one. Reviewing his movies, I had thought that I'd probably seen the worst of them, but I think that this one is probably the worst. Now keep this in mind, Lundgren has a few horrible movies, but he doesn't have any abominations, which is why he doesn't get the half star rating. But if there was one movie that was right on the border between atrocious, and ungodly, than "The Last Warrior" or "The Last Patrol" would definitely be it. The film is supposed to be a post-apocalyptic drama, where the survivors live together in some kind of compound, and they have to survive. This premise is almost barely used, and the whole movie is Lundgren driving around in a Jeep talking about random things with the other actors, and extremely ridiculous dialogue. That mixed in with an enemy sub-plot that couldn't get more stupid. It's an extremely hard movie to follow, but only because the people who were working on the production couldn't follow it themselves. You'll find yourself viewing a lot of things that are never explained or never touched upon again, but this is to be expected, with a film like this one. The acting is absolutely horrible. The lines themselves are insanely dumb, and that doesn't help at all. No one had anything to work with. You could tell that even Lundgren, who's a pretty bad actor, was flabbergasted with the script, just by his performance. It was that bad...really...that bad. I sat through the movie's duration waiting for that ultimate battle of good vs. evil, or that one moment where everything comes together, but it just never happens. Instead, the plot moves to this prison where the prisoners drink their own urine. That's what I felt like when I was watching this poisonous movie. "The Last Warrior" or "The Last Patrol" simply should not be viewed. The movie is a complete mess from start to finish. There are multiple different plots and none of them are looked upon, the acting is absolute garbage, the script is stupid, and you'll find yourself preoccupied with the wall next to the television within the first five minutes.
