Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle This new film's contrived storyline is long on melodrama and short on surprise. Rated: 1/5 Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Daniel M. Gold New York Times "The Ultimate Life" is hampered by a predictable story, stereotypical characters and wooden acting. Rated: 1/5 Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Variety A terminally dull piece of faith-based family-values filmmaking designed to appeal strictly to the converted. Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Linda Cook Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) 'The Ultimate Life' is an awkward, mostly dull, but well-intentioned faith-based movie, among the less-than-stellar offerings that, unfortunately, often presented to the sadly under-served faith-based audience that deserves thoughtful screenplays. Rated: 1/4 Sep 28, 2013 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com Drew Waters talent helps make this family film with a moral message entertaining. Rated: 6/10 Sep 12, 2013 Full Review Sean P. Means Salt Lake Tribune The inspirational drama "The Ultimate Life" wears its heart on its sleeve so earnestly that it's easy to forgive the movie's heavy moralizing. Christian M One of the best movies I have ever seen, loosely based on the life of the four Big rich oil men in Mid century America. The problems is he experiences and the passion and drive that is portrayed by the character to be successful is very real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/03/24 Full Review Carlos T Filme: O Que Realmente Importa – Presente 2 Assistido: 27-4-24 Elenco: @logans_run @missalihillis @abcorrigan @thedrewwaters Modelo: #romance #drama Duração: 1h 45m Ano: 2013 Minha opinião: O 1º filme foi bem melhor. Vale apena assistir? Sim. Nota: 5 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Patty J It was meh. The acting was at times really bad. The overall storyline dragged along, then was rushed at the end. Aside from that, it was ok Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Ted B 3.5 stars; Why can't they make simple wholesome movies like they used to..... Films without complicated plots that are hard to follow. No complex characters suffering from various psychoses. No underlying message about all the evils of this country and our society. . Well, judging by this film, they can. It is a simple straight forward rags-to-riches story about a man driven to achieve success. As you would expect, enjoyed by audiences and panned by Critics. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review debie k My family loved' The Ultimate Gift' so we were looking forward to this squeal (which actually provides a backstory for the original movie and is more of a prequel.) The first movie wasn't a huge box office hit or high-quality film but was an enjoyable, heartwarming, family movie with a great message, good acting, and a decent script...along with some familiar, well-liked actors. On the other hand, this movie came across as very low budget and amateurish. The movie had some very unrealistic, even silly, scenes and was completely predictable. Those things in and of themselves wouldn't be all bad but the writing, acting, direction, and pacing were also pretty bad. This film tells the story of Red Stevens, the grandpa, played by James Garner, from the first movie, and how he became the man he was and why he passed The Ultimate Gift down to his grandson, which was interesting and we did watch it to the end but this movie was very disappointing and not as pleasant to sit through as the first movie, In My Humble Opinion! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it! The perfect lesson for a wonderful life! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/10/19 Full Review Read all reviews
