These are movies about gorillas who ride horses that feel, at first blush, like kiddie fare. And yet, once you take the step to suspend your disbelief, this is one of the sharpest franchises about the human condition. Go to Full Review

These are characters. They are also animals, and when they are slain, there's a ghastly novelty to it, one that has long ago worn off the spectacle of dying humans Go to Full Review

War for the Planet of the Apes is a basic allegory that flirts, dangerously, with becoming an outright social issue drama. Go to Full Review

WHITNEY May 4 this was really good See more Declan D. @filmbuffkid 2d It was a satisfying conclusion to one of the greatest trilogies of all time. See more Colin W @Col45 6d I remember picking up this magazine on my way home from school way back in the 90s. It was called Total Film, with that, and Barry Norman's show, working at Warner Brothers and Blockbuster before it closed down, my love for film is and always will be as close to my heart as Arsenal. So with the festive season ITV have added a few greats. This film for me will have the same impact if not more than the power to draw you in just like the OG Charlton Heston done in previous films. The reason I felt the urge to write this is because just like Total Film you'd read reviews some great some a little harsh but not bad enough for you to question the person's logic. A message for K. AUSTIN COLLINS. If Insider are still employing you, here's an insider for you. Your review is the worst I've read in my whole time of looking at reviews. Im not sure why people would employ someone like yourself. Awful, just reminds me of someone who likes to go against the grain. And are primitive and simplistic. See more Romas M Dec 6 Greetings from Lithuania. "War for the Planet of the Apes" (2017) is amazing movie. It perfectly ended this trilogy and left me wanting for more. I do hope they will create another trilogy this time focusing on humans, but seeing what incredible movies they made about apes, i want them to me great characters as well. The craftsmanship of this movie is nothing short of amazing. Special effects were simply flawless. Not great or amazing - they were perfect. Not for a second did i thought that i was watching CGI creations in front of me - they were there, apes, with all of emotions and etc. Andy Serkis is amazing in here. Steve Zahn stole every scene as a Bad Ape - couldn't take my eyes of him - what a movie magic. Screenplay was great, deep and dark - this is a dark movie and although it is rated PG-13 its theme is more in common with "Apocalypse Now" - starting from theme, mood and Woody Harrelson performance which more then once remanded me of Colonel Walter E. Kurtz. See more Joseph H @RealMovieLover81 Dec 6 Better than expected. They added a little humor to balance out the over all dark theme, but it wasn't over the top. I really enjoyed the references to the original series. The effects are a little weak at times, it is obvious when they move from pure CG to the enhanced practical effects. Overall the themes of war, race, and the fate of humanity are presented in a thought provoking way that inspires conversation over controversy.
