Warm Bodies offers a sweet, well-acted spin on a genre that all too often lives down to its brain-dead protagonists.

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Warm Bodies is simply the first must-see movie of 2013. Rated: B+ Sep 7, 2017 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Warm Bodies achieves a heartfelt ebullience that's inspiring, and for a movie about the undead watching this made me feel as alive as anything I've seen in ages. Rated: 3/4 Aug 9, 2016 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) Warm Bodies is an ingenious hybrid that, at its best, manages to be funny, lyrical and gruesome. Rated: 3/5 Dec 31, 2013 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Even after we thought the genre was exhausted with 28 Days Later … and then Shaun of the Dead… and then the Zombieland twofer … and then ParaNorman … and then some … here we find fresh blood pumped into the format with this zom-rom-com. Rated: 3/4 Mar 26, 2023 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth Why So Blu I may already have a number one film that is a romantic comedy with zombies (Shaun of the Dead), but Warm Bodies is a lot of fun and charming in an “eat my brains” sort of way. Rated: 7/10 Feb 14, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Director Jonathan Levine... has fun contrasting the blank surface with a self-aware narration from R, the nimble, still human mind behind the shuffling body and irresistible instincts to devour living flesh. Al N 10+ years later, I still think of this movie sometimes. I can hardly compare it to another one when looking for something to bring me light, hope, and a feel-good vibe. It's clever and entertaining, a forever cult-classic for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review RosewoodGxrl : I absolutely adore this movie. It has become a comfort movie for me over the years <3 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Conrad C One of the best ways to stay fresh in a tired genre is to be self-aware, acknowledging and playing with what audiences have already seen before. Warm Bodies does this perfectly, which is how it survives in landscape strewed with other corpses. It's funny and it's sweet, which are unusual traits in a zombie flick. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review William B I watched this with my crush, who would later become my girlfriend for a short but amazing time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Jace E Who knew that zombies could be so charming? I didn't know much about Warm Bodies going into it, and I left pleasantly surprised. The two leads have excellent chemistry and Nicholas Hoult fully embraces his role. There are some overly convenient plot points, specifically those involving Julie's dad. Honestly, if you could take him out of the movie, it would probably go up a point (I never thought I would say that about John Malkovich). While a little more depth would have been nice, this film is a fun ride. There is a purity to it that I enjoyed and that is largely due to the two leads.
