Critics Consensus

Though not the highest caliber of Agatha Christie adaptations, Seven Dials is a short and sweet dive into a mysterious rabbit hole that carries great performances and stylish verve.

Let’s focus on the best parts of “Seven Dials,” which occur when Bundle crosses paths with Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman). Their back-and-forth gives the series the pluck it lacks elsewhere. Go to Full Review

This tidy journey of less than three hours is lovely period-movie fun. Go to Full Review

While McKenna-Bruce is a watchable lead, her privilege and connections result in easy access to clues and situations that instantly lower the stakes. If everything is at your fingertips and there’s nothing to work for, the payoff isn’t rewarding. Go to Full Review

Certainly, no rope has ever been made that’s strong enough to support the amount of disbelief we needed to suspend. Go to Full Review

I don’t usually expect too much from Netflix originals, but I found Agatha Christie's Seven Dials to be a worthwhile adaptation. Go to Full Review

Carlos N. @carlosn 6d Painful to watch all the way through. Poor humor, predictable, poor acting… the story line doesn’t make much sense See more Cameron H. @camthemovieman Feb 23 The three-episode format makes this an easy binge. I loved the period setting, the witty dialogue, the balance of humor, mystery, action, and suspense. The cinematography, sets, and production design were excellent, I loved the cast, especially Martin Freeman. It’s a classic whodunnit mystery! Overall, whether you’re a longtime fan of Agatha Christy or simply looking for a fresh new mystery to dive into, I recommend checking out “Agatha Christy’s Seven Dials” on Netflix! See more Torin F @nonlinearize Feb 21 SEVEN DIALS promises a fresh Agatha Christie adaptation that it pretty well completely fails to deliver. Miscast characters (especially the lead) proceed on a tepid drift through privileged society and a "murder mystery" with a lot of contrivance and very little bite. Beyond some initially engaging period atmosphere, the one redeeming quality here is that the series is in fact very limited, and mercifully short. See more Hayley V. @haystu Feb 21 So good I hope they get the green light for a season two. I can definitely see it going farther in to the story line with the main character getting to show her edgier side. I 100% recommend this series you will not predict the full ending and The Who done it. See more Rick D @RIckD468 Feb 14 The adaptation of Seven Dials is necessarily constrained by the fact that the story is itself not one of Christie's better works. The secret Seven Dials society makes no sense, and their inistence on wearing clock masks is silly. Having said that, I have watched the 1981 version and thought I would see this one to compare. It is less faithful to the book, and yet superior. The main advantage is in the case, , especially Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen. Helena Bonham-Carter does well as Lady Caterham, and their interactions are terrific. The major plot change from the book is unnecessary, and adds little to the story. If we are only blessed with one Season I guess that will do but I really enjoyed this. Two Thumbs up. I could go on but I refuse to ruin the delightful 3 episodes trust me you'll be glad you took the time to enjoy this delight! See more Read all reviews
