In 1963 the American government begins a covert mission sending hundreds of people on a centurylong journey aboard the starship Ascension. Its goal: to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the trip, the murder of a young woman -- as Ascension approaches the point of no return -- prompts some to question the project. The crime is investigated by 1st Officer Oren Gault, born to maintenance workers on the spacecraft, and Emily Vanderhaus is the victim's sister. Other travelers include Capt. William Denninger and wife Viondra.

Andrew Male Times (UK) ... Has a unique peculiarity that can be summed up simply as Mad Men in Space but is far stranger and unsettling than that makes it sound. Aug 26, 2022 Full Review Jeff Jensen Entertainment Weekly A charitable read: Ascension was challenging a genre to dream better. Rated: B- Apr 8, 2020 Full Review Brian Moylan Guardian The show looks bright and slick, expertly setting the scene and the culture of Ascension in a believable and detailed way. Apr 8, 2020 Full Review Alexander Joenks Pajiba It is excellent science fiction, and I urge such minded individuals to watch it. And be patient with it. Apr 8, 2020 Full Review Michael Ahr Den of Geek In perhaps the most surprising turn of the evening, the show completely betrays the audience's expectations for a space drama and gives us instead The Truman Show in space. Rated: 4/5 Apr 8, 2020 Full Review Merrill Barr Forbes Part of what makes Ascension excellent is its genuine commitment to surprise and pace. Apr 8, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

LL S Very promising premise hampered by mediocre execution, though the final act ends on such a strong note that it's a tragedy we'll never know what happens next. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Chris W I absolutely loved this. I started this in 2024 without realising it was only one series. I would pay a lot of money to see more or even if they could write a book. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review erik r Can't tell if the script writers are 12 years old or way past their prime octogenarians. Either way, the writing is terrible and so far, after two episodes, I'm done wasting my time looking for originality, interesting characters, or breakthrough actors we will look forward to seeing in the future. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Another Mystery-Box'y show. Half the People have one or two intrigue's running, a skeleton in the closet and one big Secret wich blows in the most Drama-Effectiv Moment. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I absolutely loved the series. Just found it on Netflix. The story has a lot of interesting characters with their own motivations. The sets are amazingly created.it has so much mystery that I was hooked with every episode. It's a must watch. Please watch one episode and think for yourself And don't let me or anyone stop you from giving this show a chance. Especially the idiots that rated it a bad score. I really hope this site gets taken down one day. With all these wannabe movie critics that can't enjoy anything because someone must have cut out part of their brain that holds any imaginations whatsoever, please don't read their bullcrap and give it one episode. Thanks and sorry for being four years late. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The only tragedy is that it ended with just the mini series...
