Critics Consensus

Although Boy Meets World doesn't quite live up to its talented casts' potential, it's still a comforting show filled with sharp, warm moments.

Kelly Lawler USA Today One of the few series that followed its characters from childhood to college and adulthood, Boy packs an emotional punch. Nov 10, 2021 Full Review Erik Adams AV Club But beyond all that pomo tomfoolery and theoretical apology-making, the early seasons of Boy Meets World endure due to the character at its center. Sep 13, 2018 Full Review Howard Rosenberg Los Angeles Times Boy Meets World is an alien with no recognizable human qualities. Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Hal Boedeker Miami Herald These wonder years are considerably more precious. Creator Michael Jacobs (Dinosaurs, My Two Dads) wears his good intentions on his dialogue. Rated: 2/4 Feb 16, 2022 Full Review Jason Barr Collider I now find the trials and tribulations of elementary-age Cory a little too adolescent even for my own taste. Jan 22, 2019 Full Review Josh Sorokach Uproxx Unlike its Friday night brethren, Boy Meets World has aged extremely well and can be unironically enjoyed during modern viewing. Ed R Adorable story with a cheesy sense of humor. Good morals following every episode. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/29/25 Full Review Mike P Very good coming-of-age sitcom about boyhood set in the 90s; which treks the adventures of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), as he makes that great voyage from puberty to manhood...Over the years...Growing up with buddies Topanga, Shawn, brother Eric and his parents, and his wise teacher/mentor Mr. Feeney; in the Its-Always-Sunny-In-Philadelphia suburbs...And which proudly sits along-side older-brother show "Wonder Years" as one of the great shows about adolescence; although where "Wonder" was pretty serious, "Boy" is funner, and tonally more like "Happy Days"...It's very funny and smart, well written and perfectly cast...(And very popular and long-running like Happy Days)...And this probably represents the absolute paragon of ABC's "TGIF" lineup...It sure beats the Hell out of other teen sitcoms of the era; like the dreadful "Saved By the Bell". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/25 Full Review Audience Member Great coming-of-age show for anyone who was a kid in the '90s. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good and very funny.
