Bored with his success, celebrated mystery novelist Rick Castle teams with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case of a copycat killer who re-creates murder scenes from Rick's novels. While solving the case, the two realize that their unorthodox partnership has its benefits and decide to continue working together. Combining his writer's intuition with her creative detective work, they investigate strange homicides in New York, all the while building a strong, if complicated, relationship with each other.

Brian Tallerico HollywoodChicago.com Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic bring their spectacular chemistry back for another season of the increasingly enjoyable Castle, a mystery-of-the-week show distinguished by excellent writing and some of the best lead chemistry on television. Rated: 4/5 Dec 13, 2016 Full Review Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly I'm glad that Nathan Fillion has found a vehicle that'll remain on the air longer than 2002's Firefly. Rated: B- May 5, 2010 Full Review Emily St. James AV Club Castle is good, but it's not great. It's not clear it even wants to be the latter, and that's totally OK (fun TV can be really good TV). Rated: B Oct 27, 2009 Full Review Ahsan Haque IGN Movies The character moments are well handled, and that's always been the focus of the series anyways. Rated: 7.2/10 Aug 22, 2017 Full Review Jonah Krakow IGN Movies The crimes were just as puzzling and interesting, but the biggest improvement this season came from including more of the supporting cast and giving all of the characters a personal connection to many of the cases they investigated. Rated: 8.3/10 Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Jim Garner TV Fanatic The relationship between Castle and Beckett reminds me of the early years of Moonlighting, when Maddie and David had sexual tension to play off of. Michelle T Castle is trying his best with fixing his relationship with Beckett after Season 1 when he told her about her mother's death, that she was murdered. But he gets back in her good graces and work on more cases. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Toms c The series is pure joy to watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Danil S Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic returns for more zany murder mysteries in this 24-episode-long season. In this season, we witness their relationship blossoms into something so much more than a mere partnership. Even though they are still in the state of denial, I am shipping them all the way. On top of that, the show dives deeper into the tragic past of the main leads; with some surprising revelations in store. In addition, their on-screen chemistry is just so dang spectacular! They played off each other so well that I just cannot get enough of their banters. With that said, the show is still as formulaic as it was in the first season; but the producers managed to keep the show relatively fresh by introducing additional supporting characters and guest stars along the way. All in all, Season 2 is a strong follow-up to the first and I would recommend the show to whoever that loves quirky murder-mystery dramedies. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/22 Full Review jon c Crime novelist Richard Castle and Kate Beckett are back for more zany murder adventures The second season now consists of 24 episodes with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic keeping that fresh buddy cop energy alive At the end of season 1 the biggest revelation that Castle came cross was a murder resembling his partner's mother Her death was the reason Kate became a cop in the first place; she spent so much time putting the pieces together but couldn't find enough to find a conviction or give her some peace of mind Now in a series of cases the unknown killer is using the same method taking lives the same way Kate's mother suffered At first she was very apprehensive digging up old skeletons of her past but with Castle's help may Kate can finally give her mother justice The thing is too that she likes having Castle around to make things more fun for a job that is hard but she won't admit it The finale leads to Kate's character Nikki Heat being targeted and caught in a game of cat-and-mouse right out of Castle's book Beckett will also have to make a choice after she starts a relationship with another officer possibly creating a rift with Castle Season 2 continues to bring the fresh, sparking energy of a writer and detective with undeniable chemistry, slick tension, and plenty of laughs Some nice character moments squeezed into the many dead bodies piling up Some episodes maybe could've been switched around to make it flow better but Fillion and Katic remain the life essence of this series Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review steve d The show dosn't lose a step despite the longer episode count. A lot of fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Richard Castle continues playing junior detective with the NYPD into a second season of ABC's hit drama Castle. This season Becket is drawn into a deadly game by a homicidal stalker obsessed with her fictional alter ego Nikki Heat, Esposito is confronted by his past when his former partner returns from the dead, and Castle reunites with a long lost love. Additionally, the mystery of Beckett's mother's murder is revisited and turns out to be a greater mystery than previously thought. Michael Trucco joins the cast as a recurring character and a number of special guest stars are featured, including Alyssa Milano, Ray Wise, Dina Meyer, Dana Delany, Michael Ironside, and Fred Willard. However, with a full 24-episode season the show starts to get a little formulaic at times. Still, it tries some new things with a 2-part episode, a Halloween special, and some continuing story arcs. A strong follow-up to Season 1, Season 2 of Castle is entertaining and full of exciting murder mysteries. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
