Political satirist Stephen Colbert takes on cable-news pundits in this show, which centers around his essential rightness about the issues of the day. Colbert portrays a caricature of conservative political pundits often seen on TV. The show is known for coming up with new words that enter the lexicon, perhaps most notably "truthiness."

Tim Grierson Rolling Stone It was politically astute but not didactic, thought-provoking but light on its feet, hilarious but also deeply felt. Sep 24, 2018 Full Review Brian Moylan Guardian In his first night in the chair, 17 October 2005, Colbert had one of the biggest hits of his run, debuting the word "truthiness." Sep 24, 2018 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe After this week's promising premiere, let's hope Colbert makes it work over the long run. He's a clever creation, and a necessary one, and he deserves an opportunity to offend as many people as possible... Sep 24, 2018 Full Review Kari Croop Common Sense Media Colbert's late-night shenanigans, while fun, feel a lot more traditional by comparison, courting a slightly older audience. Audience Member This was born from Jon Stewart's Daily Show, but quickly surpassed it with it's humor & intelligence. Unfortunately, Colbert lost his mind to Trump Derangement Syndrome years later & became a shill for mainstream politics & vapid culture when he went on to host the Late Show.
