Niall Browne Movies in Focus Creepshow offers up a successful hit rate across its four seasons. Sure, there’s the occasional story which misses the mark, but if one tale doesn’t tickle your fancy, then it’s highly likely that the next one will. Rated: 3/5 Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com Creepshow loves a good "nature takes revenge" plot, and let's just say "Mums" follows very squarely in that tradition. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Jon L Keeps with the practical effects and amazing campy horror! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Col H Creepshow, a once brilliant idea, ruined. The first movie, obviously brilliant, Directed by George A Romero and written by Stephen King, no more needs to be said. Creepshow 2, More madness from King and Romero, another instant classic. Then along comes Creepshow 3. About the only thing in common is the name Creepshow, but similarities end there, absolute tripe. Then along comes this mish mash of supposed horror. There is one or two episodes that are ok, but overall, boring see through story lines, no real twists or turns, the odd bit of gore and that's about it, and it only get worse as the episodes go on. Truly a slap in the face for the Creepshow name, the scariest thing is the lazy writing behind this show. Very Disappointed. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review MR WALTER'S TRANSFORMERS Official The Creep Came Back for more tales Hopefully he gives more tales from his comic book! This Reboot is amazing! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review ERIC W It was soo realistic, even just in the 1st Story of the 1st Episode: because you Know it's Only Wht Honky Tonk Southerner Types who are Alcoholic Spouse-beaters & are basically the bane of our civilization. They are the Real Scary Monsters. Truly inspiring & fantastically original Hollywood fare to boot. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/22 Full Review the s It's important to keep in mind exactly what this series is if you really want to enjoy it. It's an anthology of horror shorts. And the nature of anthologies is that they're very hit and miss. There are 2 stories to each episode; some episodes are good, some stories are boring. Sometimes the effects are sketchy, sometimes they're just completely uninteresting, sometimes they're super strong. Almost more comparable to Tales from The Dark Side or Monsters from the 80s/90s than the original Creepshow, this is pulp horror…sometimes ironic, sometimes humorous, sometimes scary…ironically almost never creepy. And that's where it loses me…each story has the potential to be a super creepy short but more often than not, they fall way more into that Tales from the Dark Side type of content than stories that are built with any kind of real creep factor. With Nicotero at the helm, there tends to be a heavy focus on the effects and the creatures…which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all…I just think sometimes the writing and stories take a back seat to the effects and the Creepshow team sees most of these stories as an opportunity to do some cool SFX. (Even though a lot of the monster designs/effects look super similar between stories) Still, always worth a watch if you like this type of content or if you want the nostalgia hit of old series like "Monsters." Not easy to rate these types of series where the story and characters change twice per episode but it's solid as far as those kind of anthology type content goes. It's not Twilight Zone by any stretch (then again, nothing is. That's the gold standard of this type of show.) it's not even a Hammer House or Horror level where storytelling is concerned. But it is what it is: kind of fun and kind of entertaining, just don't expect any real creeps or true scares. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
