"Dare Me" is an unflinching exploration of volatile female friendships, jealousy, loyalty and the dynamics of power in a small Midwestern town. Such plotting -- of teenage girls being pitted against each other and drifting apart -- could come off cliche, but Dare Me does more than incorporate the trope. It examines the way conflict warps the girls' perception of each other, giving it more nuance.

Decently watchable considering it’s about a team of cheerleaders, not my usual favourite subject matter for a TV show. The ad for the show got my attention when they were comparing it to Euphoria. Not quite the wild ride that was Euphoria (bring on season 3!) and when they say ‘slow burn’ they were right it’s very slow burn indeed. Good writing and well acted but be warned there is no season 2 and this one ends on a cliffhanger leaving you wondering where it goes from here. Shame they didn’t keep it to 1 season.

I can't find one redeeming quality about this show, other than the acting. The show, which is based on a book apparently, is about toxic friendships, young women struggling with mental health and trauma (which goes completely unaddressed), bullying, manipulation, eating disorders, you name all of the messed up things that young women can experience and this author just decided to put them into a series sandwich. What is the point of it? I'm all for a gritty story about real human experience, but this was just over the top. I was shocked to see it has 85% on this site. No entertainment value, I could barely make it through the series.
