Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Kelsey Grammer’s portrayal of his haughty psychiatrist has barely lost a step, but the supporting players in this now Boston-set comedy too often fail to transition from pithy outline on the page to plausible foils. Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Rachel Aroesti Guardian The Frasier revival has turned out to be fine. Faint praise, but praise nonetheless. This is despite the show’s obvious flaws... So how and why does it work? The flawless cast, mainly. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2024 Full Review LaToya Ferguson AV Club When it’s good, it’s mostly just really fine. When it’s bad, it feels disappointing to even call it Frasier. Rated: C Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Dominic Griffin Looper.com While the new season keeps apace and maintains the charm and wit that got it renewed in the first place, one crucial (but subjective) element holds it back from greatness. Rated: 6.5/10 Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked Now that Frasier (2023) has hung on for a second season, it’s more obvious than ever what a Kelsey Grammer vanity project this is, and how much it’s wasting its supporting cast. Rated: C- Dec 19, 2024 Full Review Chris Wasser Sunday Independent (Ireland) These sitcom heavyweights are only as good as the material allows them to be, and this shoddy, senseless reboot hasn’t a clue what it’s at. Andrew M As an avid lover of the original Frasier series, I was initially excited to hear that they were bringing it back. And then hearing that David Hyde-Pearce wasn't starring in it, as well as Jane Leeves, severely disappointed me. Nevertheless I watched both series and honestly I cannot recommend it at all, even after a second series. Although we've again got the appearance of Roz, Gill Chesterton and Bulldog the show lacks the original whimsical and comical tone that the original series was naturally able to write in. You can feel the script which is kind of forced in places at attempts to be funny but none of it felt naturally funny as Frasier doesn't have Niles to bounce off of. The continuation of Nicholas Lyndhurst in the series just wasn't funny for me. Starting as Frasier's long lost friend (apparently) to which there was no reference to in the original series, makes the series feel like it's lost its way as something has clearly been attempted to recreate the natural comedy that Frasier and Niles had. Instead we have someone that comes across as just constantly grumpy and sarcastic which plays far too much on the line of "good old British comedy". There's far too much of that which again gives the impression the writers were severely trying to cover for the missing comedy that naturally occurred between the original cast. If you're an avid lover of Frasier I honestly think you'll find it difficult to find this entertaining, if you're not then by all means watch it to see what you think but then go back and watch the original series for a far better, smarter written, comical time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review Eric S. Enjoyable was happy to see Gill and Bulldog again but kinda glad it was the last season couldn’t have ended better ! Except for poor David of course !🤣 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review Ciaran O It's beyond disappointing. I keep giving it another chance only to be even more disappointed. When you catch an old Frasier or Cheers, you realise how unfunny this version is. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Christopher W An occasional laugh cannot mask the fact the script is fairly clunky and the acting on occasion wooden. The most common feeling is - ok, glad I satisfied my curiosity but the answer is that it just doesn't work without Niles. And Martin. Ok, there's not much reason to bring back Daphne and we can't bring back Martin. But the whole point of the comedy was the interplay between Frasier and a brother who brought out the best and worst in him - and vice-versa. That brother was always around Frasier, and never seeing him at all - not even a cameo - in a reboot just renders it rather pointless. It takes all the fizz out of it. So I conclude the reboot is, sadly, just for completionists as it feels like a bottle of champagne which has gone flat. Of course, the original was brilliant. I've got the lot on DVD and have seen all the episodes several times. My son adores it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review MMM V Even if the professional critics may not love it, they are just critics. We love the second season. However, It would be a good idea to persuade more of the old cast to join, with age corresponding storylines though. Writing them in for cameos or a single episode only is maybe hindering the story development in general, which is difficult enough considering there are only 10 episodes in a season. The original series of the 90s used to have 20 of them or more for a good reason. Writing a coherent story with only 10 episodes of 25 minutes each is rather challenging. As for the current cast; the actors of Alan and Olivia are overdoing it a bit, dragging it a little too much towards slapstick, but Kelsey Grammer manages to make each episode enjoyable anyway. We look forward to season 3, 4 and so on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review Timeto W There was so much potential here. IDK why they don't bring Niles and Daphne back. I'd watch a show about them.. not so sure I need to see more of Fraiser.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews
