Synopsis
In a way only he can, comic/actor/writer/activist Stephen Fry mixes information and humour in "Fry's Planet Word," a five-part series about language. Traveling to sites around the world -- including China, Australia, Israel, Kenya, the east and west coasts of America and many European cities -- Fry journeys through the thousands of years since man first mastered speech, up to today's cyberworld with its html, codes and texting. With the help of linguists, scientists and geneticists, Fry tries to learn if we as a society are anywhere near understanding the complexities of language.
