An aspiring writer and her three friends in New York try to make sense of what life has in store for them after college. They're not sure what they want or whom they want it from, and the picture isn't getting any clearer. Hannah thinks she has what it takes to be a successful writer, if only she would write something. She wants a boyfriend without dealing with an actual relationship, and she wants a job without having to work. Marnie is Hannah's best friend, a Type A personality who has a serious boyfriend and an actual job. Jessa is a devil-may-care bohemian whose apparent lack of fear hides her own kind of insecurity. Her cousin, Shoshanna, is an NYU student who would love nothing more than to experience a "Sex and the City" lifestyle. The others tend to underestimate Shoshanna, but she proves to be a sharp source of wisdom.

Kerensa Cadenas Bitch Media I hope the gnawing discontent that permeates the beginning of Season 3 of Girls continues throughout the season - it finally gives the show the high stakes it needs. Jan 20, 2021 Full Review Ellen E Jones Independent (UK) The characters still interact in ways that feel true, but the comedy is now sharp enough to entertain viewers who don't happen to be affluent twentysomething white women. Feb 6, 2014 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian Girls is no longer shocking just for the sake of shocking. Even a bit grown up, maybe. Jan 21, 2014 Full Review Randy Dankievitch Processed Media It's a marked return to the more contemplative nature of season one and early season two of Girls. Rated: B+ Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Angela L. Harmon The NitPic It's rare for a show to hit its stride into the end of its third season, but Girls really found itself... Dec 12, 2019 Full Review Helen Razer The Saturday Paper (Australia) Dunham is not remarkable for letting it all hang out; rather, she is remarkable for forcing it all to hang together with such a capable hand. Audience Member Iam from indonesia, so I will review with my language. menurut saya agak membosankan. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Hannah is starting to get on my nerves. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Petty, Bitter and vastly unimportant story line. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Did Hannah Horvath really go stale, like really? Isn't that impossible? Sadly, friends, that answer's a resounding yes. Though managing to somehow force Hannah and Adam together throughout Season 3, the centralizing narrative acts in opposition to the audience's wants, thus dwindling its chances of evolving into a truly original narrative. Then it stands that, Season 3 morphs into a predictable tale of young, emotional stasis, as told by a protagonist we once would've died for... With the knowledge of future pain, I'd recommend you give the first few episodes a try, though cautiously, as they do hold some prospect, but again, prepare for the bitterest of regret by episode 8. I warned you. The best episode is 7 though, which coincidentally is titled Beach House, one of Indie Alt. Rock's best bands. We all loved the whimsical gags and micro-stories evident throughout the first seasons, that being the rebellious infatuation undertaken by Hannah, the backlash of Shoshanna's social anxiety, the lusting between Marnie and Ray, and even the depreciation of Jessa's confidence in her ability to exist in a total state of kindness. But, folks, by the middle of Episode 1, Season 3, you can already feel that the dialogue just doesn't sit as well. Its youthful brilliance now fleeting in consult of tropes repeated on a systemic level by the romantic comedy genre. Though, there are moments when you’ll still LOL or clap silently within, like watching Elijah's new, asshole-of-a-partner, sneak a bottle of wine away from the backs of the enraged trio of Shoshanna, Hannah, and Marnie. Or, when Shoshanna finally calls out Hannah for her egoism. By the end of Season 3, it's almost as if in Hannah’s search for repairing Adam’s interest in her emotional character, she simultaneously destroys the physical relationship with Adam, while savaging the audience’s remaining interest as well. "It's like you're just outside of yourself, watching me.” – Adam after pulling out of Hannah. Don’t worry though Hannah and Co.-- We’ll still chuckle fondly when binging through the first two seasons. Also, the last episode did force me into feeling the same depression over a stale relationship, resembling a monstrous creation now. Thank you for the catharsis. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Just getting better and better. Mean and funny, bittersweet, knowing that life is always full of craps and stones but learning how to deal with it is definitely two kind of thing. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member If this is what television is going to be, I want no part of it. Awful, awful show.
