Optimistic teacher Will Schuester heads up McKinley High School's glee club -- New Directions -- a place where ambitious and talented students can find strength, acceptance and their voice. As the students find themselves, they also enjoy a respite from the harsh realities of life. Mr. Schuester hopes to help the kids in every way he can, and also dreams of taking the group to nationals. As Schuester and the glee club pursue their goal, they face opposition from a conniving cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, who tries to sabotage the group at every turn.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Impending graduation and a race to the top provides this season some emotional power and stakes, but Glee will strain many viewers' credulity with a flurry of melodramatic developments that feel more cynically calculated than organic to characters who feel increasingly more like soundboards than people.

Joe Reid The Atlantic Seemingly out of ideas, this was the season that started adding cast members from The Glee Project, had Rachel and Finn get engaged for some insane reason, and kept transferring people between high-school choir groups like they were on NBA teams. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Courtney Eckerle USA Today The third and current season has somehow managed to become a cross between a soap opera and an after-school special. The teenage melodrama was exhausting enough to live through, let alone watch. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Kevin Fallon The Atlantic Over two and a half seasons, however, Glee has evolved into a series that takes itself very seriously, in which every scene has a moral and every moral applies to Teens of Today. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Brett Berk Vanity Fair What truly killed Glee for me was its stubborn refusal to act upon its promise. Instead of delivering a diabolical subversion of the high-school genre, it became a showcase for a bunch of famous young performers who sort of play misfits on TV. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Ryan McGee HitFix When it stops working so damn hard to be edgy, inventive, or iTunes-driven, it frequently succeeds in being the show it thinks it actually is. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures Unfortunately, these new cast members aren't nearly as interesting as the original crew, and several of them are winners of "The Glee Project." That means they can sing, but their on-screen charisma, personality and acting ability isn't quite there. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Chelsea R my favorite show, best season in my opinion though its hard to chose Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/25 Full Review Klber A Depois que focaram na Rachel, acabaram com a série! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Jonathan Q The most beautiful season to date that blast our hearts and take care about fans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The storyline is messy but the performances became stronger. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I love the season and all the effort towards the end as if the series was going to end there. It is very good but I think it is a little disconnected when trying to remove some important issues just to leave them pending for the future. What I believe is the error that the series had. The episode "Goodbye" is incredible and delivers everything I need for the end of the series. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite a lot happens in the season, Santana comes out, the glee club graduates, mostly, characters grow up and such good songs too. my only complaint is Finn not getting any consequence for outing Santana, Kurt not getting into NYADA but Rachel somehow entered, maybe because of his resume, and Troubletones not winning sectionals overall 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
