"ER" and "Full House" star John Stamos plays a version of himself: a charismatic, longtime bachelor named Jimmy who finds his life turned upside down when he learns that not only is he the father of a grown man named Gerald, but also a grandfather to Gerald's baby daughter. This sophisticated coming-of-age comedy proves that not everyone grows up at exactly the same time as Jimmy must learn to adapt to the sudden changes in his life, connect with his newfound family -- and perhaps reconnect with Gerald's mother. Stamos also serves as an executive producer.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

John Stamos is as handsome and charming as ever, but Grandfathered's jokes are tired and schmaltzy.

Eric Deggans NPR The show's predictability is balanced by great casting. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Heather Hogan Autostraddle Every week I wonder why I'm so into this show, and then the next episode is even cuter and funnier than the last. Jun 26, 2018 Full Review Allison Shoemaker AV Club Watching Stamos toss out punchline after punchline is a genuine delight, because watching anyone do something they're great at is a delight. He's an actor built for exactly this kind of material, and so he makes it sing. Rated: B+ Sep 30, 2015 Full Review Alyssa Fikse Uproxx Their show is pleasant now, and if Grandfathered can find ways to make this familiar story seem fresh further down the line, it should be worth sticking with. Jul 31, 2018 Full Review Pilot Viruet Flavorwire There is certainly something enjoyable about Grandfathered. It's far sweeter than the marketing implies, aiming for a blend of dirty jokes and heartwarming moments between family and possible-relationships. Jun 8, 2016 Full Review Jeremy Rodriguez The Young Folks Stamos's star power and the intriguing supporting characters are enough to make Grandfathered a neat addition to your fall TV line-up.
