Melinda Houston The Age (Australia) The first episode tonight is a lively and often funny instalment of this long-running series that also, of course, contains the necessary cry quotient. Number two isn't quite as good but keeps all the relationship action chugging along. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 20, 2020 Full Review Gwen Ihnat AV Club No one is ever going to quit expressing astonishment that Grey's Anatomy is still on the air. But if the show wants to keep itself fresh for season 16, a whole new hospital, led by Alex, of all people, is an inventive way to do that. Rated: B Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Cristina Escobar LatinaMedia.Co The show's willingness to dive into the realities and nuances of what it looks like to be a high-achieving, working mom [works] Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Meg Dowell Culturess After all this drama, even the characters on the show needed a drink. Nov 1, 2019 Full Review Sonya Field Hypable Grey's Anatomy season 16 is finally here, and the premiere episode didn't let us down! With a series of flash forwards, there was plenty of drama! dave d It's a mess, but it is getting so silly it's beyond jumping the shark. If you're still watching and a dude, your wife is making you watch! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review kalyn m Still like the show ! Sad more characters left though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The season overall was good. The major thing I had an issue with is how they wrote Alex off the show. His character would never leave Jo and go back to Izzy and just write letters to his friends. Jo has already been through so much, and he wouldn't do that to her. Jo is better for Alex than Izzy. I get he found out he has kids, but still, it's not what Alex would do. Maybe the old Alex, but not the later seasons Alex. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't understand how people can like this season. How Alex left the show? Makes absolutely no sense. All 15 seasons of character development down the drain. Krista Vernoff should be ashamed of herself for ruining the entire season. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member another family fave. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This season was hurt by two things: the departure of Justin Chambers and COVID-19. With these aspects ignored, the season was good. The latter half was better than the first. DeLuca, Amelia & Link, and Richard's arcs were the best this season. The Pac North arc seemed like a huge waste of time since Chambers left, and the writing changes to work around it have been really messy. I‘m not a fan of Teddy and her indecisiveness, though the emotional development of Tom is wonderful to see. With regards to Alex and Izzie, the writer's case for Alex's departure was believable, but only if you ignore season 15 and all of the progress that was made. It was not their best work. I'll admit though - the introduction of Hayes signals it may be time for the series to end. But in a good way. I'm excited to see what happens with season 17.
