Happy Valley's emotionally charged second season completely avoided a sophomore slump, and remained compelling. Go to Full Review

"Happy Valley" does a fine job of conveying what it's like to be a small-town police officer whose daily rounds allow her to confront the dumb, silly and awful things people do to each other, and to wrestle with what she herself is capable of. Go to Full Review

At the heart of it all is the splendid Lancashire, incarnating Wainwright's unarguable position that the world is an altogether disappointing place but we struggle on. Go to Full Review

ev p @evman Mar 11 A crime drama with fabulous characters. One of my favorite TV series, and crime dramas are not usually in my sweet spot. See more Christian T @Tur7on 05/12/2024 Follows on seamlessly from season 1, a don't miss show See more Nigel F 02/04/2024 A continuation of an excellent series. All performances are outstanding, the writing is phenomenal See more Christina K 07/22/2023 Loved it! Just as good as season one, but gets deeper into this family, and what they've had to go through in this small town outside of England. I think it's outside of England. It's a hard accent to understand sometimes so put on subtitles the other main character, that's in jail, is one of my favorite British actors as well, although I can't remember his name… Some thing, Norton and he played in Grantchester and wow what a change of rolls for this man and done very well! See more Kara V 05/31/2023 Even better than the first season, a must watch for detective show fans. See more Dave C 03/15/2023 Quickly establishes the side stories to the continuing overarching storyline, and sets the tone as to how it will evolve. It's more psychological this season, with a lot going on with the main characters, and some brilliant ideas. Well written, brilliantly acted, and with some amazing casting choices See more Read all reviews
