What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite strong performances, Heroes' second season's pointless, bloated storylines drag, making for a disappointing follow-up to the series' exciting first effort.

David Sims Slant Magazine It's unfortunate, then, that Season Two began just as ponderously, doing little to allay fears that Heroes might have contracted "second season syndrome" earlier than expected. Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Alan Sepinwall Newark Star-Ledger "Heroes" may be better this year than it was last year, but it's still a very dumb show that just wants you to think it's smart. Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Sean O'Neal AV Club Volume Two is finally closed and we've come to the end of our wild, crazy ride-which, OK, was more like a frustratingly cramped ride over an uneven road with several forced detours to lame tourist destinations. Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Robert Canning IGN Movies As poorly as season two began, the series finished strong. The major characters remained intriguing throughout and there were enough interesting story arcs. Rated: 7/10 Apr 2, 2020 Full Review Curtis Middleton Den of Geek Whilst the story arc was strong and driving forward; all the extraneous stuff was manna from heaven for fans. As soon as the direction faltered, all that stuff became a pain in the ass. I want my storylines on-screen; that's where the focus should be. Apr 2, 2020 Full Review Molly Templeton Eugene Weekly (OR) Four Months Later, season two's premiere, isn't that bad. But it's a little weak all the same Feb 27, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Sue B S1 was just barely interesting. The inconsistent alliances made my head spin. But S2 is redundant and tedious as hell. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review D S Season 1 was pretty good no doubt. But every season thereafter was garbage. They should not have changed Director and got rid of Greg Beeman because the show really went downhill from there... It was absolutely terrible from S2 and on. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Audience Member The best show ever created. Were this show here today it would be the one of THE most popular show. How it got canceled i haven't a clue. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/20/24 Full Review Jim n Great SciFi show. Good cast, good story, already watched it multiple times. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The pacing of Heroes' second season isn't quite as engaging as its first- with a significantly slower direction, but still some interesting plot points, this season is merely a serviceable follow-up and not much else. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow-paced, put to an abrupt anticlimactic end thanks to the 2007-2008 Writers' Strike, lacking proper focus with 90% of the storylines having no effect on the main plot, the virus story not being as potent as the explosion storyline from last season and featuring a cast of new characters who are not welcome here except for David Anders and Kristen Bell - plus one of the more interesting storylines occurring mostly offscreen and letting some Last Airbender narration do all the hard work -, Heroes' second season still isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. The actors, even of the hated characters, are trying their best, there are some genuinely awesome moments and even a powerful speech or two with decent enough sequel hooks. Unfortunately, the Writers' Strike led to this season being narratively inferior to Season 1. They should've stuck with the original plan and introduced new characters whilst any returning characters from last season are supporting.
