When Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home following eight years in captivity, CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that puts America's national security at risk. Later on, Carrie gets a promotion and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIA's most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East, where she is in the heart of battle in the war on terror. Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA, eventually returning stateside where she works for a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in America.

Grace Dent Guardian Clearly, the greatest thing on TV right now is... Homeland... Aug 17, 2018 Full Review David Thomson The New Republic Above all Homeland arouses our suspicions-if the show had a sub-title, it would be "Insecurity," not "Security." Oct 25, 2011 Full Review Diane Werts Newsday Showtime lets them [the producers] take their time to spin serpentine story lines, gradually pulling us deep into one very sticky, scary web of intrigue. Rated: A Oct 2, 2011 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews an exciting storyline that is as complicated as it is full of cliffhangers, and that leaves us plotting theories every week while we wait to find out what's going to happen next. And Carrie Mathison is exactly the heroine this captivating show needed. Nov 4, 2023 Full Review Randy Dankievitch Processed Media Homeland fills the void on television for good spy drama that's been empty since the early days of Alias. Feb 24, 2020 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk The amount of information packed into this pilot episode, which still managed to sustain an urgent dramatic pace while creating a shivery sense of foreboding, is a testament to the quality of the writing and performances... Shart_in Y This show lived up to the hype, until the finale. Great actors, brisk pace, great pulpy plot. Credulity gets strained, but not to the breaking point. I mean, it's a spy thriller. Claire Danes really sells the psychotic spy, which makes up for some of the wobbly plot points. However, the finale ruined it for me. The truckload of insane coincidences and ham-fisted deus-ex-machina contrivances just let all the air out of the tires. Without getting specific, we learn that this is a show with no real stakes. The main characters are immune from real peril. A story set up in the first episode and built up over the season reaches no real conclusion. Instead of a decent ending, they're just going to stretch the same plot out next season. And I started season 2, which began, OF COURSE like this: The agent who was fired for gross misconduct (sleeping with a suspect, leaking classified information, etc.) has the head of the agency come to the door and BEG for their return. Guys, you had a good thing going here, and you ruined it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Dean W Story is just ridiculous: a CIA operative with bipolar develops a ridiculous crush for no apparent reason on a terrorist suspect Hard to tell if this was meant to be a drama or a comedy Apart fro the thin plot, the characters are so shallow How on earth did this rubbish get an award or last 8 seasons??? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review C R Homeland season 1 was a great watch. Plenty of "they would never do that" type of moments, however the acting was pretty good, the show held my attention and I was wanting to see what came next 🙂 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review ERIKA G BEST TV SERIES EVER WITH 24 !!! KUDOS TO THE PRODUCTION!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review J P Great series, 10 seasons are one of the best series produced (Writing, direction, acting, drama) Compelling script and way better than the junk being produced and getting worse every year. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/20/24 Full Review Sergen Y Its a very good thriller series that in its best moments really keeps you on the edge of the seat. However for me the show also has some weaker moments that are inscinatef more boringly or written "too dumb". But its defenitely worth a watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
