When Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home following eight years in captivity, CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that puts America's national security at risk. Later on, Carrie gets a promotion and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIA's most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East, where she is in the heart of battle in the war on terror. Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA, eventually returning stateside where she works for a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in America.

As the stakes get higher, Homeland remains a roller coaster ride of tension, and Claire Danes is riveting in one of the best written thrillers on television.

Phil Harrison Time Out Events are conspiring against 'Homeland'. Jul 23, 2018 Full Review Phil Dyess-Nugent AV Club For all its rough edges, this season of Homeland has made for some compelling television. Rated: B+ Dec 13, 2013 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz New York Magazine/Vulture We've been misled quite a few times already, and the payoff was rarely worth the irritation of knowing that Homeland wasn't playing fair with us, much less thinking through the implications of what it was doing. Dec 2, 2013 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk At the moment it's hard to care. Jul 23, 2018 Full Review Stephen Carty Flix Capacitor There are one or two questionable developments along the way, but the second half of the season offers a surprising return to form. Plus, the performances and Saul's beard remain as compelling as ever. Rated: 4/5 Dec 27, 2013 Full Review Kevin Yeoman Screen Rant With a major storyline now resolved, there's definitely hope for and curiosity about the future. j. g Weird season. Ending Brody's storyline woulda been fine if not done so unceremoniously & never showing his family's reaction back home who we spent 3 seasons with? What was the point of Dana's storyline if only to end it with her last scene telling her dad she never wanted to see him again. But we never see her find out he was innocent of the bombing & did the right thing in the end?? Why focus on her at all then?? Showing zero reactions from the people they had us follow for 3 seasons?? Carrie & Saul's storyline was better than how Brody was handled I guess but still her breakdowns get tiresome, even though her acting is on point. Biggest problem was abandoning everyone they made us watch for 3 seasons in the moment it actually mattered to see them, closing out their story. Bizarre. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Liz M I'm disappointed at how this entire series doesn't live up to the hype. Each season's plot line has been done before, for example Manchuria Candidate. The original ones are so unbelievable, they come across almost as parodies of the genre. Carrie is irresponsible in both personal and professional life, mentally unstable, aloof, and she's supposed to be the heroine? Danes' increasingly annoying and distracting personal facial and behavior tics also diminish her likeability. By this third season, I couldn't care less if she gets locked up again. Same with Saul—thoroughly unlikeable human being. Lies even when he doesn't have to, perfectly willing to personally and psychologically destroy Carrie and Brody to achieve success that's for his glory, not the CIA's. The production crew of the series keeps making blatant continuity and logic mistakes. Example: Dana carries her huge, heavy move-out bags of belongings to the foyer, announces she's moving in with her friend, hugs her mom goodbye with not even slight remorse, and leaves the house, gets into friend's car, and drives away — without her bags. She behaves as a very self-absorbed girl who is far too intelligent to not fully understand the repercussions of her destructive behavior. The only likeable characters in the entire cast are the young Brody boy and Virgil. How this series was greenlighted for eight seasons is beyond me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Even though the plot was kind of depressive through the entire season, it was still very entertaining and very well acted. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Nicht alle Aspekte des Deals mit diesem Unternehmen sind ideal Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Homeland is one of those shows that makes people think about everything that goes on around the world, related not only to CIA, GRU, ISI, but most importantly it teaches you to put things into perspective and not judge people directly. Everyone has their reasons and their causes for behaving in certain ways, but the most important thing is being able to realize that people think differently for many reasons. It is not the worst, it's what makes us human in the first place. This show is about putting yourself in someone else's shoes. It sounds cliché, but it might save the day, the month, the year or the world! Regarding the show, the actors are amazing. Don't stop watching after season 3. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member typical series about cia/fbi stuff between us vs m.e. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
