Kaiya Shunyata RogerEbert.com While season two of “House of the Dragon” starts strong, it eventually becomes clear that this series is at war with itself. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Inkoo Kang The New Yorker The new allegiances in the finale satisfyingly blur the lines between the factions, but until war truly begins—and Rhaenyra embraces every aspect of leadership, including the unsavory ones—it’s still all table-setting, no meat. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Rachael Sigee BBC.com We know already that there is no happy ending, but it has increasingly seemed that the characters themselves agree. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Jeff Beck The Blu Spot Sadly this sophomore outing ends up being far more languid & uneventful, resulting in a rather curious season where very little happens to advance the plot, leaving the promises & potential of its previous season unfulfilled. Rated: 3/5 Nov 19, 2024 Full Review Palmer Haasch Business Insider It's more evident now that season one, despite its grand scale (and sometimes indulgent dragon sequences), was the setup. Season two is the beginning of the payoff. Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu The satisfactory direction of two character arcs, the forging of new alliances, dragons and riders set against the mandatory striking production values, somewhat offset the disappointing absence of massive, jolly battles Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Ali R Sure, I’ll start the conversation. As someone who is one of the most wholly devoted fans of the OG show, I can tell you that it did not matter if I had read the book or not. The second season has been disappointing at best. Actually, disappointing is really the understatement of the century. I am literally despondent over how awful this season has been. You took some of the greatest actors in the world, and abused that power by having them sulk, pace, meander, aimlessly roam….i was waiting to find one family had changed their banners / sigils to the FURROWED BROW. Season one…well, something just felt off about it. I chalked that up to it not being my beloved Game of Thrones, (AKA growing pains?) and told myself that the next season would be better. Instead, we had an uncle-husband who was roaming around a dingy, depressing castle, hallucinating most all season—only to then decide that he didn’t want to hallucinate anymore. A dream/vision just magically made him do a complete 180°! That part was honestly almost laughable, though I had to admit, I was just relieved when he snapped out of it. The constant hands behind the back, locked together, wandering the halls and talking to the maid…I’d had ENOUGH after ONE EPISODE! It was torturous. But yes, relief and anger is what I felt when Daemon ultimately went back to his wife, because I couldn’t make sense of the storyline of him having been gone in the first place.. And while I’m on that topic, do we really think that Rhaenyra Would’ve just let him stay there, hallucinating and pacing the entire time? No. She would’ve gone to Harrenhall by Syrax and dragged his ass back home like the lazy husband he is. He could’ve prevented the loss of her son. He could’ve exacted the revenge on her son himself— if he hadn’t been acting like such a huge baby. His decision was lazy and honestly, predictable AF. Okay, I’m exhausted and I wish the show was better. Unfortunately though, I predict it’ll be over after season 3; maybe season 4 if they go as slow as they have been. Hopefully they’ve listened to the fans?! Only time will tell. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Valerii Ege D My final series tweet of 2024 is about House of the Dragon. While the pace has slightly slowed due to this being a transition season in preparation for the third season, I still don’t hesitate to call it the best show on television. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Audience Member Está segunda temporada consegue ser ainda mais épica que a primeira, traz desenvolvimentos de personagens de uma maneira muito bem escrita, o roteiro é único, e traz cenas que fazem qualquer se arrepiar!!!!😍🙌🏆 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Georgianna G Firstly, casting and acting is amazingly. However, as much as I wanted to love the series just cannot get into the plots (bored by 6th episode) and couldn't find a single character to like. Every character was just so flawed beyond redemption and committed horrible acts. Just got physically ill at watching 100% horrible acts/people that couldn't bring myself to feel sympathy when horrible people had moments of vulnerability. Again, wanted to like it but just couldn't get past all the murder, greed, and jealousy without even a single thread or hint of light. Not for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review J B Whoever was responsible for making sure that the scenes were in focus, someone please buy that person a 4K television so they can see what's going on! Such a shame after all the work that clearly went into costumes and sets. I was constantly squinting trying to figure out why weird things were out of focus. It almost hurt to watch. Things on wired and different focal planes were in and out of focus, and the bokeh had a nauseating unnaturalness to it. I suppose someone did this deliberately. It's horrible. Plus they decided to no longer include a digital version with the 4k BluRay like they did with season one. Please, shoot season 3 in focus then don't digitally blur things out on random focal planes in post. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Mark F It's the TV show I most look forward to at the moment. The ending of season one was outstanding and I couldn't wait to see what was coming next. I was a bit disappointed then that season 2 got off to a fairly slow start and it wasn't until the thrilling episode 4 that things really kicked off. Unfortunately the season then slowed the pace again getting bogged down spending too much time with Damon's storyline and his surreal daydreams and nightmares. I still enjoyed season 2 overall but would have liked it to have progressed the story more and instead was left with several tantalising plot threads hanging until season 3 comes around.
