What to Know

Critics Consensus

An irreverent and self-referential comedy speaking to Gen Z existentialism, I Love LA is equal parts funny and cringe thanks to creator Rachel Sennott's absurdist sensibility.

There’s a truth there that ripples out all the way even to this semi-offline, full-blown millennial: it’s not merely about the performance of depth now, it’s the performance of an entire personality. Go to Full Review

I Love LA makes you root for these people not to be stupid, and no less so even as they repeatedly dash your hopes. Go to Full Review

The notion that all things must pass is both a comfort and a threat... I Love L.A.'s treatment of this anxiety is funny and, as the season progresses, sneakily humanizing. Go to Full Review

Everyone in this show has an ambition and they are faced with obstacles that make reaching their goals much harder, but instead of giving up, each individual looks for a different way to get back on track to reaching their goals. Go to Full Review

I Love LA works because it remembers that darkness needs light. These little monsters are human enough to root for. Go to Full Review

Nobody, thanks to their own deficiencies or cruel circumstances, seems capable of getting – or at least keeping – the things they want either way. And it’s all very funny, about as much as it’s deeply sad. Go to Full Review

David F @dfulmer 6d While I thought the first episode or two were a little too superficial, I grew to love this portrait of the way we (some of us, anyways) live now. It’s outrageously funny and very entertaining and shows a striver side of Los Angeles that’s partway between La La Land and Day of the Locust. See more TheToyMaker T. @Nockslodian Feb 13 The dynamics of characters is wonderful in itself. I could only with for more long lasting consequences for choices when they’re going from episode to episode (to keep up thrill) but it’s a wonderful show. More of Gen Z needs to watch! See more Heidi L @Costume_CO Feb 10 This show is straight up bonkers but in a good way. Binged it so fast, now I have to wait for S2! See more Abbas B @Foodrunner Feb 3 Kind of like Entourage in Gen Z. Really funny show and relatable. We loved every episode and we are millennials. See more Andrei D @RT74856639 Jan 13 At times it tries much too hard, works with too many characters, but it has a dumb zany energy that often delivers solid moments and even laughs See more Aaron T @Aaronmesdina93 Jan 12 I throughly enjoyed it I don’t really see why allot of people call it cringe edgy and unlikable but I’ve literally had things happen to the characters in eps1-3 happen to me, like this shit happens!!!!! and I don’t live in LA I live in a city in Texas and holy shit Rachel this was so accurate and dead on like the most insane aspects actually happen to people when your involved in a art scene, it’s crazy how super specific the insanity is of it can’t wait for season 2 completely binged it after watching Marty Supreme and Bodies Bodies Bodies also I’ve been a fan of Rachel’s humor from her stand up to bottoms so I knew what I was getting into and she delivered everything and more low key was expecting some Charli needledrops hope we get some in season 2. Every song in season 1 does slap tho. See more Read all reviews
