In this day and age of heightened political unrest and deep-rooted factions in the U.S., Sarah Silverman is doing her part to bring people together... one joke at a time. In a weekly half-hour talk/variety series, the acerbic comic travels the country to meet with regular folks, aiming to show that despite our differences, we're all just the same. While there's comfort in connecting with like-minded people, Silverman feels it's crucial to develop relationships with people who may not agree with her opinions. Through honesty, humor, and a genuine interest in others, she attempts to do just that. In addition to field segments, episodes also include a monologue and studio bits in front of a focus-group audience.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Earnest and sarcastic, crude but compassionate, I Love You America is a welcome dose of optimism in an overly cynical late-night landscape.

Darren Franich Entertainment Weekly I'm glad Silverman has a venue for this because we should have a venue for this. The other political late night hosts can feel like they're preaching. Dec 27, 2017 Full Review Jake Nevins Guardian In short, contemporary politics is all feeling; what it lacks is empathy. Thus, Silverman's task - to use the former as a vehicle for the latter - is a noble one. And she most certainly has her work cut out for her. Dec 27, 2017 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com Shouldn't we have minimum expectations that the show can minimally fulfill its implied mandate by inspiring viewers to truly find common ground beyond a shared affection for scatological humor. Oct 27, 2017 Full Review Andrew Husband Uproxx Silverman has tapped into a surprisingly vibrant strain of broadness at an otherwise disruptive time for television. Sep 6, 2018 Full Review Funmi Sunmonu Add This To Your List It's short, it's quick, it hits good beats... She's definitely coming in with a bang. Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Matt Wilstein The Daily Beast I Love You, America really comes alive when Silverman leaves the studio. Dec 27, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member What a piece of garbage, this show is terrible, just idiotic rants from a far left perspective. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Another shining example of how the rotten tomatoes 'critics' are out of touch, full of crap hacks. Hulu just cancelled this pile of garbage that the audience scored 54%. Good riddance. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review fred n I think people who expect to like this show will like it. People who expect to hate it will hate it. Anyone else should consider that this is a low production value, personal show. Sarah says some things that even her friends don't agree with. She gives voice to people that she definitely disagrees with. She tries to take it down a notch and let the viewer know that "both sides" (because all real issues have only two options) are made up of actual people. Probably not as funny or serious as it could be, so maybe it's just right. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Jamie N I used to love Sarah Silverman, but she's just not funny anymore. This is show is more political and I'd rather laugh at the end of the end. I don't laugh at this show. It just makes me severely depressed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/08/18 Full Review Audience Member Terrible attempts at humor by the left. I watched the episode with bill burr because he's hilarious but she managed to ruin that too. She just kept telling him who she thought he was and making up stories of how they are really best friends but its obvious by his body language and his comments he doesn't like her anymore than the rest of us. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The critics are so f... up. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
