Rafe Telsch CinemaBlend All in all, In Living Color was definitely a product of its time, but fortunate not to get caught up in the politically correct changes of those times. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 6, 2018 Full Review David Leonard PopMatters Challenging both a colorblind paradigm and a middle-class black leadership that emphasized respectability over oppositional politics, In Living Color offered dissidence. Audience Member This show was like harnessing the power of lightning to bored white kids in the suburbs. We also made our own Homey D. Clown socks, stuffing them with cotton balls, and would beat each other hard-softly with our homemade props: HOMEY DON'T PLAY THAT! The socioeconomic diatribes Homey D. Clown makes on this show are more brilliant than what happened on the Richard Pryor Show. With sketches like "Homey the Sellout", Homey D. was the truthiest m-f-er we'd ever been allowed to see. Homey D. Clown hated us kids with such a special fervor, he wasn't afraid to lift the veil of illusion from our eyes so we could see what little a-holes we truly were! Homey D. Clown could certainly use a series, a film, a madcap salute to Mooney the Muse, whatever, because those sketches are still cutting edge today.
