David Haller is a troubled young man who was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child. Shuffled from one psychiatric institution to the next, in his early 30s, David meets and falls in love with a beautiful and troubled fellow patient named Syd. After a startling encounter with her, he must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees may actually be real. With the help of Syd and a team of specialists who also possess unique and extraordinary gifts -- Ptonomy Wallace, Kerry Loudermilk and Cary Loudermilk -- David unlocks a deeply suppressed truth: he has been haunted his entire life by a malicious parasite of unimaginable power.

Alan Sepinwall Rolling Stone Season Two wandered aimlessly until not even the pretty pictures were enough to justify the muddled storytelling. This third and final season mostly returned to that original, effective balance. Aug 14, 2019 Full Review Angelica Jade Bastién New York Magazine/Vulture As always, Legion is dazzling on a visual level. It plays with frame ratio, color, mood, tone, and sound with wild abandon. This season gave us entrancing sequences. Aug 14, 2019 Full Review Darren Franich Entertainment Weekly PowerPoint surrealism hiding a total lack of imagination. Deaths don't matter, as the timeline fractures across illusions and flashbacks. There's yet another toothy shadow monster. David's face appears on lunchboxes: Mmmm, yessss, ironic merchandise. Rated: D Jun 26, 2019 Full Review Proma Khosla Mashable With three seasons and barely 30 episodes, Legion was nothing if not a feat of visual artistry, a meditation on the human mind that necessitated engaging our own in order to participate. Dec 12, 2019 Full Review Isabella Deleo AwardsCircuit.com It's a marvel just how ambitious this series is, and how it so expertly weaves between disparate character and story arcs while still feeling polished. Rated: 4/4 Dec 12, 2019 Full Review David Hogan hoganreviews.co.uk A zany, well stylized and brilliantly shot series as we've come to expect, but I have to say the ending was a little anti-climactic... IVIR 8 This is one of the best TV shows out there. You almost forget it’s a Marvel property. The show never follows a linear path, couple that with the mind-bending visuals. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review Byrand M The series is characterized by a sluggish pace, marked by repetitiveness and a strained attempt at artistic depth, often resulting in confusion without purpose. Despite sporadically intriguing visuals, they fail to redeem the overall quality of the show. Character development is lacking, rendering the cast unmemorable and the underlying love story unconvincing. The supposed "omega level" power of the main character, David (Legion), falls short in delivering a genuine sense of awe, contributing to an underwhelming viewing experience. The excessive use of tedious and repetitive scenes, at times recycled from previous episodes, adds little value and becomes a tiresome narrative device. Some episodes veer into the realm of pointlessness, resembling detached Twilight Zone shorts with minimal impact on the overarching story. The promised epic mutant superpower battles are disappointingly brief and anticlimactic. Even in the final battle between David and Farouk, the utilization of powers is overshadowed by unconventional and lackluster elements, diminishing the impact of the confrontation. In contrast to other superhero series, such as DC's Titans, Legion fails to develop compelling characters and a gripping storyline. Titans, with its more complex and relatable characters, outshines Legion in delivering a satisfying viewing experience. Legion's persistent exploration of the blurred line between reality and illusion becomes a tiresome theme, detracting from the overall narrative coherence. Ultimately, Legion falls short in its attempts at both mind-bending fantasy and engaging fight scenes, leaving viewers with a sense of unfulfilled potential and frustration. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Kelly K It's a trip! If you don't want a trip, don't watch it. 'Cause, it's a trip! 5 stars! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/23 Full Review Cineasta Y la mejor temporada con el triple de surrealismo, psicología ,magistralídad y deslumbre visual y mental. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/23 Full Review Corey W The epic conclusion to television's most trippy superhero saga left a little something to be desired, but it's the journey that makes this show work. The direction and set design alone should qualify this series as a staple in FX's stable. Weird and constantly challenging, Legion demands to be watched carefully lest we miss an intricacy that helps decode where it is we're actually going. It can feel, at times, like participating in a scavenger hunt without a list of items. This could alienate a different viewer, but I found this feature to be exhilarating and reminiscent of shows like LOST or The Leftovers where the viewer is invited to try and crack the case of oddities before finale time. Stellar performances from Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, and the astounding Navid Negahban as Farouk, add to that aesthetic. It certainly meanders during its second season, and as the finish line approaches you can almost hear the showrunners start to panic about how to tie this craziness up as neatly as possible. Overall though Legion is a voyage worth taking. Its high concept approach at a Marvel property is a welcome breath of fresh air. Its arthouse aesthetic is a feast for the eyes in nearly every scene. It just feels a bit suffocated by the end, like the showrunners were having so much fun exploring that they forgot they needed a cohesive story until there were only a few episodes of runway left. Legion isn't for everyone, but for that special Venn diagram of individuals it might as well be church.
