Critics Consensus

Leverage is uneven and occasionally illogical, but its twisty, exciting plotting make for a caper series that's compelling and watchable.

Noel Murray AV Club A breezy caper series that can't overcome its basic familiarity (and inconsequentiality), no matter how much it keeps winking at the audience. Rated: C Oct 3, 2018 Full Review WSJ Staff Wall Street Journal There's a cast both likeable and great to look at. The stunts and scams they run have a "Mission: Impossible" style, but are pulled off with refreshing humor and verve. Oct 3, 2018 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The show fails only when it wants to make you feel something warm about their mission, rather than just letting you enjoy the icy suspense and snappy dialogue. Oct 3, 2018 Full Review Americ Ngwije TV Equals It literally has everything going for it. Great cast, great story lines and a fantastic dialogue. Oct 4, 2018 Full Review Matt Fowler IGN Movies Some uneven moments throughout the series, but the balance of dark humor and intelligent writing usually made the save in the end. Rated: 8.6/10 Oct 4, 2018 Full Review David Cornelius DVDTalk.com It's so playful with its plotlines and characters and games that we get swept along well enough, not minding the eye-rolling bits. It's all thanks to a great sense of charm. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 3, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Christopher R If jyou're a fan of the original A-Team. A modern re-telling of a similar situation. Not a former army unit but a "rag tag bunch" of elite former selfish criminals NOW ethical criminals turning their skills to good! Like many shows with a formula that's rrinse & repeat with differnt themes each episode,, similar to A-team it doesn't take itself TOO seriously which allows it to be just fun. Exaggerated fighting skills: Elliot(BA), tech by Hardison(Murdock), the same for the Sophie's (Face)"characters" & deceptive ploys & Parker's(Murdock) personality and theif skills. They ALL go to 150% & then Nate Ford(Hannibal) the strait guy gone rogue who brings all of these characters together after tracking them as an insurance investigator his whole career. He not only has insights & intell just in his head that would put the CIA & FBI to shame but the deductions of Sherlock and the stategy of Sun Tzu. As well as having a solid a almost complete understanding of all of his team members skills! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Father Zachary M Wonderful, witty, and just downright enjoyable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Catherine B This show is fun. Reminds me of watching similar shows as a kid and looking forward to sitting down and spending time with the characters. Timothy Hutton is... not always compelling as the guy who lost his son and is now the brains of a group to help the weak against the powerful. The character is uneven until later seasons. The rest of the cast makes up for it. Lots of action. Clever con schemes. Gadgets. Flashbacks. Plot twists. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Kevin L Creative, smart, humorous, engaging, every character has great chemistry, perfect casting! I could go on but you get the picture! A MUST WATCH! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Grace P Leverage really resonated with me in season 1, from the unique characters to their complicated plans and exciting action Leverage is a witty, thievery show full of entertainment. If you love mystery, action, drama and high stakes I'm sure you'll enjoy Leverage Season 1. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Addison H Its oceans 11 compressed into single little 48 minute episodes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/20 Full Review Read all reviews
