      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Unnecessarily dense storytelling and an oversaturation of acronyms gives the sense that this sturdy procedural may be overextending itself, but Kelly Macdonald reports in for duty to provide some fresh blood and intrigue.

Chet T Line of Duty is exceptionally well written and stars a new lead actor each season to carry the drama along side the trio of Kate, Steve and Hastings. Every season is solid, particularly seasons 3, 4 & 5 (Steven Graham stars). The ending is a bit underwhelming but overall it deserves the 96 rating! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Eric F Excellent British crime drama , so very binge worthy! The acting, story and writing are all top notch. Can't believe I just discovered it this year but so glad I did. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/07/23 Full Review Edmond W S6 is Not as good as previous seasons. DCI Jo's acting is definately poor and doesn't look like a DCI at all. She may only look like a vulnerable lady. The ending of the season is surprisingly bad, and I don't believe audience is happy with Ian as the last H. It doesn't close out the story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review t r This is such a great series. If you like great cop shows, you'll want to see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Line of Duty is probably my favourite UK TV production of all time. Great acting and writing. One of the few TV series that wasn't predictable and there were lots of twists and turns I didn't expect. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a great show through all 6 seasons. I wish it would continue. Terri White Empire Magazine Its ever-rotating cast of guest stars has always been one of Line Of Duty's greatest strengths, and within two short hours, Kelly Macdonald is already shaping up to be one of the most mad and memorable. Rated: 4/5 May 5, 2021 Full Review Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) I've griped about various bits of this show over the years - the jargon, the references to people and places we'd completely forgotten about... but it stands head and shoulders above most other dramas. Rated: 4/5 May 5, 2021 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian But in the last few episodes of Line of Duty and particularly the finale, containing a supposedly towering speech by Hastings so pedestrian that even Dunbar could barely sell it, the message has hardly been moulded at all. I Rated: 3/5 May 5, 2021 Full Review Akhil Arora Gadgets360 [Might] be beyond its best years but it is still at times the most thrilling thing on TV. Dec 30, 2021 Full Review James Walton The Spectator [The premiere] might have represented an unusually slow trundle to the top of the ride. Yet now that we've got there, the ride itself looks like giving us our money's worth again. Jul 19, 2021 Full Review David Zurawik Baltimore Sun Here's hoping for more characters like Hastings, Bartlet and McCall based on the knowledge that television can shape our values and behavior as well as simply reflect them.
