Tambay Obenson IndieWire Tautly paced, intriguing, and full of even more personal stakes, the season ends tragically and beautifully in its own way. Rated: B Dec 10, 2019 Full Review Steven Nguyen Scaife Slant Magazine In its fifth season, the series does little more for viewers than leave them numb. Rated: 1/4 Jun 3, 2019 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com The fifth season -- for perhaps the first time -- feels as if it's gone back to this well once too often. Jun 3, 2019 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut Idris Elba and Neil Cross have done it again, in a gut-wrenching and sharply written fifth season of the fan-favorite detective drama. Well-written characters and continuity like this can carry any plot and cover any flaws. Rated: 4.5/5 May 10, 2021 Full Review Peter Crawley Irish Times One stab of humour, and the whole thing would deflate like a whizzing balloon. In the yawning moments of a new year, though, you can understand the appeal of a show that is equal parts grit and syrup, spook stories and implausible twists. Dec 10, 2019 Full Review Dan Ashby Cultured Vultures Season five of Luther is a non-stop adrenaline ride that refuses to let up for even a moment. It is raw and resonating, cutting straight down to the nerve. Dec 10, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

matthias s *Luther* Season 5 brings back Idris Elba's gritty, intense detective for another gripping round. The dark atmosphere and high-stakes drama are as thrilling as ever, with Elba delivering a powerhouse performance that keeps you hooked. The villain is chilling, and the psychological tension is on point, but the plot sometimes feels a bit too chaotic and rushed. That said, the explosive action and compelling character dynamics make up for it, creating an edge-of-your-seat season. It’s not the strongest of the series, but it’s a solid and entertaining ride for any *Luther* fan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review David C Both good and bad, but overall it seems a little lacklustre in its delivery. As a result, the ending as an attempt to cleverly mirror our first case with Luther, comes across as less thrilling than it should be Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Rais E Finally this show gets fun and it's the last season. Alice Morgan is a precious dream. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Jorge M I need one more season.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/22 Full Review tom m Entertaining and well done. I think some of the popular ratings may be a little inflated due to the halo effect of Idris Elba. He did put in yet another stellar performance, but overall the show / story may not warrant as much praise as it has received. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It's dark. Really dark. But the coolest serial killer case in history. Plus Elba is incredible as usual. Not for the faint of heart though. Wouldn't recommend to my church buddies.
