Mad Dogs boasts exciting twists and a rich landscape, but occasionally squanders its talented actors on stale midlife-crisis observations.

Alison Herman Flavorwire Mad Dogs is a major commitment, one that those who like their comedy in shades other than pitch black may not be willing to make. Aug 11, 2017 Full Review John Doyle Globe and Mail On the surface there's a gripping, contorted thriller with many spellbinding plot twists. Beneath that, there's mordant commentary about very large geopolitical issues going on. It's rather brilliantly pulled off. Feb 17, 2016 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe The cast is top-notch... acting like a bunch of fun-loving dudes having their male-only Big Chill moment - but then also bringing a palpable undercurrent of tension and competition that gradually rises to the surface. Jan 27, 2016 Full Review Meghan O'Keefe Decider It's a show with a whole lot more depth when you look at it as uneasy commentary on the values that let these guys down. Mad Dogs didn't come here to celebrate American masculinity, but to mourn it. Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media Dark, adult comedy about macho men in trouble is violent. Rated: 4/5 Feb 23, 2016 Full Review Cory Barker TV.com While there's no real tangible attempt to be prestige TV here, the show doesn't ever devolve into purposeful camp or trash either. Instead, this is, like many shows we see in this era, an enjoyable, compelling, but inessential affair. Jan 22, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

R J Mad Dogs is a great limited Series, but felt stretched. Everything mad perfect sense when I learned they originally did not plan for a Limites Series that the Network had a specific vision for S2 & the Creators had their own different vision where they wanted to go for a S2, which resulted in ended the show. If this was known from the start all I can say is the series NEVER made sense for a S2 & the first 2 Episodes go so Hard & throughout the Ten 1hr episodes there are multiple parts which ramp up like a movie, now having some peaks for character building and valleys which compliment the intense peaks are fine, but the overall result was too much unecassary fat. No lie this series can become a 5 out of 5 Star if there was a new Limited Series Directors Cut now knowing it is only 1 Season either leaving it 10 episodes but cutting them down to 40-45 minutes or cutting the series to 8 Episodes. Hey Amazon/Sony Pictures TRUST me Limited Series are IN right NOW💯 Re-Release Mad Dogs with a New Trailer. Drop a little money on marketing & maybe.dubbing for International, since that's been crushing lately & this series will make more money than it did originally. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review Audience Member What a fantastic series shame I cant get it to watch again . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a really thoughtful and engagingly done show. It gets mired in too much chatting with the main four sometimes, but the twists and turns and humanity and humility of it all make it stand out in a landscape of a lot of stilted garbage you see on streaming services. It's a damn shame it didn't get renewed, but this is a 10 part series I dare you not to binge in a day or two. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I was hoping that each character would get killed off to end this stupidity. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Engaging drama comedy with a lot of action as well as unexpected plot twists. We binged it in 2 days. Wish there had been more seasons! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The most underrated show thus far. It's got everything you want in a show with plenty of humor at the right moments to keep you on your toes. It isn't some predictable show like you think it would be, people unexpectedly die and the story takes some unexpected turns. But that's what makes it so astounding. It's like narcos and breaking bad had a baby. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
